It's Kanthal, not kenthal. 30g will require more wraps, since it is less resistant than 32 ga. I prefer about 3mm coil with 32 gauge at 5 wraps with cotton yarn, but YMMV. Selection of juice is very subjective, for both taste and price. What is "cheap" for one vaper may not be "cheap" for another. Google wattage vs voltage or review some videos on Youtube.

I use the machine screw method to rebuild my protank heads (vaping with dave youtube video is what I used to learn how)

32 kanthal - 5 wraps on a 3/48 screw (available at most hobby stores that sell rc parts) using 4 strands of 1mm silica with 1 flavor wick using 70/30 juice - the atomizer ends up at 1.9 ohms (per my Vamo - always expect some small error in the device - +/- .1 ohm does not bother me)

I will make 5+ coils at once and thread them all at once to cut down on waste (I personally don't like cotton - too natural - I also will not eat any fresh food or anything without preservatives in it - I also miss red dye #whatever and ddt as a household bug repellant)

I make mine using a 1/16 drill bit. I use 32 gauge kanthal wire, which I preheat with a lighter so it holds shape better. Then I ......ah heck, watch some videos! It will give you a way better idea of the process than reading about it. I will say that I prefer cotton over silica. Try as many ways as you need until you find what works for you. I would recommend Mount Baker Vapors for an inexpensive liquid that is still good quality, or DIY juice, which has a great subforum here.Your voltage setting will be the output of your device while your wattage setting will take resistance into consideration and adjust accordingly. The wattage setting comes more in handy when you frequently change coils with varying resitance levels. Kinda a simple explaination, but I am sure you will get more feedback from folks with a lot more knowldege than myself. :toast:

Thanks for your post. My husband was wondering if he could use a lighter, and you cleared that up for him. We can't WAIT to try this. He's been having a helluva time with not being able to taste many of the juices we've bought. Hoping this will 'kick it into gear' for him!

Some juices need to steep before the flavor really comes out. This is especially true with tobacco flavors, but not so much with fruity ones. Let me know how it turns out. :D
