Kanger Protank 3 base hot

After about 5 minutes of vaping, the bottom of my PT 3 starts to get hot. It started in just the last couple of days. It does it on my Zmax mini, the eGo and EVOD batteries (just takes a bit longer on the smaller batteries). Could it be the atty starting to wear out?
FWIW - I haven't got the burnt taste yet.

Normally a hot base happens from chain vaping. The coil doesn't have a chance to cool down. Are you noticing a big change in the taste of your juice when it gets hot?

No, I haven't noticed a change in taste. I only noticed it when I touched the base by chance.

How long have you had that same atty coil head in, what ratio juice is in the tank, and would you consider yourself light, moderate, or heavy vaper?

I've had the tank for about 4 weeks. Had to change it once.
It's 2 juices, one is 80/20 other is 50/50. I'm a pipe smoker and vape when I can't smoke my pipes. I'm a light - moderate vaper. Been vaping about 5 weeks & have changed a total of 2 attys in the four toppers I have. After every empty tank I clean it & the atty.

I just finished the tank. I rinsed them out under hot water per usual. This time, I'm soaking the atty overnite and soaking the bottom & top in distilled water. I'll take everything out of soak when I get up. I'll rinse & dry the atty then see if it still heats up.

Update: It now takes a while to heat up & it doesn't get as hot. But now it leaks. Never did before. I found a video on the Tube on how to convert it into a dripper. Think I'll get the wire & wick and give it a try.
