I picked up a pack of Kanger Protank heads. They fit my Protank, but the trouble is--the posts are too long to fit into my Evod. Could it be that I bought a knockoff?
I've seen at least one EVOD knockoff that used the original T3/MT3 type thinner vent tubes and the mouth piece tube they fit into was designed to accept nothing larger than that. It sounds like you have a variation of a knockoff. The solution will probably be the same: swap the vent tube from the old coil onto the new ones.
Yep - PT coils should fit EVODs. Longer chimney tubes, but they work. The universal donor is the TS3 coil unit - fits itself plus the PT (1 & 2) and EVOD.
If yours don't fit, you've got an EVOD knockoff. Swap the chimney tube from the unit that worked in the EVOD with the new PT coil unit.
Kanger changed the diameter of the shaft to discourage all the EVOD knockoffs out there (esp Fasttech clones.) Real Kanger Evods work with Protank coils. You can get old-style (short and narrow shaft) clone coils from Fasttech. IME, Kanger Evods are better quality than the knockoffs. My fasttech knock offs lost the paint in no time flat (it bubbled and peeled off or chipped and peeled off!)

Thanks for that but which ones. they have some many.
sheesh.
I need the short and narrow shaft for my Protank 2. Guess it's a knock off or first gene. reg evod or protank coils will not fit. To thick I guess but the coils that came with it works, but I need more. don't rebuild but I may have to.
thanks for any information...
Yes they are longer now. Spent most the night checking threads, nothing with any real idea except learn to rebuild or buy from Fast tech and hope.
Good luck and let me/us know if you find something..

I have never bought anything from fasttech. I do have a pretty good relationship with a handful of US vendors who answer all my questions and I can just ask them if coils have long or short posts. I mostly buy from 3 vendors so they know me and help me out when I need it....I think that is the advantage of "establishing a relationship" with a vendor you like, who can provide more personalized customer service. At least, for me it is. I actually save money like that, by not buying the wrong thing, so in the end, it ends up "cheaper" than Fasttech.
I deal with an auto mechanic like that. His hourly rate is as high as the dealer's. The total cost of the repair can be 20% to 50% lower than the Ford dealer.
