Hello, I just tried using the Protank on a ProVari for the first time. I like it, but my question is: There is card that came with the tank with "Suitable Voltage to different Resistance" readings. For example, it shows the following:

Resistance: 2.4-2.6 - Voltage: 3.9-4.2V
Resistance: 2.6-3.0 - Voltage: 4.3-4.7V

At the bottom of the card it says: "This relationship applies to all bottom coil heating clearomiser."

I am very new to vaping, so my question is: Is there any room for experimentation or choosing a different voltage (in the lower or higher range) will break the tank or might cause some other problems?

Also, how do I tell when it is time to change the coil? Can it be cleaned or after a certain period of time you just put a new one in?

Thanks.

I pretty much disregard the recommendations given on that little card that comes with the Protank. I adjust voltage to taste. If it tastes weak or muted, I turn up the power. If it tastes burnt or harsh, I lower the power. I think Kanger's recommendations on that card give those with variable voltage devices a starting point so they don't end up with a burnt hit.

I generally clean and dry-burn my Protank (all parts, not just the coil) after two or three fills. That may be a bit overkill, but I like tinkering around with them and like the peace of mind that I won't get stuck with a burnt, gunked-up head while I'm out and about.

Cleaning consists of running all parts under hot tap water until no trace of e-liquid smell is present.

Dry-burning:

-Dry off base and atomizer head.
-Suck air through atomizer head to further dry the wick and coil inside.
- Remove top tube from atomizer head.
-Remove "flavor wicks" (if present) and set aside.
-screw atomizer head into base and screw into device.
-Apply power in five second pulses (I like to keep it under 4 volts for dry-burning) until coil glows evenly, coil looks clean and wick turns white.
-Re-assemble everything and enjoy.
