I have not tried the protanks. I started with the emow in kit version several weeks ago after finding the blu things had zero hope of replacing smoking for me. I've been really impressed with them, enough to buy several more in the regular and mega sizes that I share with a family member trying to switch with me. We wanted various devices, both for different flavors and for use in different locations because neither of us are all that good at remembering to carry the things with us yet. All the mow tanks we have
do have adjustable airflow, like
the base, second from left in this picture (which is simply the first good example image I found when using Google's image search - I don't know anything about the company hosting that.) You twist a ring to choose how many of five holes are open, with each hole being ... they look to be something between 1 and 2 mm diameter each. I find one hole open is a noticeably tighter draw than what I was used to with filtered cigarettes. 2-3 holes open was the closest match to cigarette draw I found, leaving 4-5 holes open feeling very wide open and airy to me
(although I doubt vapers used to dripping attys would agree, but I've not tried those yet.)
When deciding to buy more of these mows vs. other tanks, I kept coming back to mows because they were a glass tank
("Yay, I can see how much is left in there without worrying about what chemicals in juice don't play well with what chemicals in various kinds of plastic!") with a seemingly sturdy metal cage/wrapper/protector
("Yay, I don't have to worry quite so much that we'll break these when they invariably get knocked over and dropped!") The other tanks I looked at online, including variations of Aerotanks, Protanks, and something called Genitanks IIRC, left me nervous about lack of juice level visibility, plastic, lack of glass protection, and/or lack of airflow control functionality. We did get one mini Aerotank with airflow control, like
this one, but I like the way the AFC works on the mow tanks more because it feels like a wider range of airflow options. My one gripe about the mow version of AFC is that, while not what I'd call loose, it is pretty easy to spin that AFC ring when taking the tank off the battery or when taking the base off to refill or change the core. Once it's all put back together, I found it's possible to accidentally unscrew either the ego/510 threads attaching it to the battery or the threads attaching base to tank when I'm trying only to adjust the AFC ring. It's far from a deal breaker, one of those "just takes practice" things. When I bought the first kit at a local B&M, the guy there advised I try to make a habit of inverting the tank before working on any twisting just in case I unscrew the wrong thing. That was good advice, and it took me less than two tanks of juice spilled to learn the lesson for myself the hard way.
