Kangertech Subtank Mini 4.5ml tank

The Kanger Subtank Mini Clearomizer is a brand new revolutionary tank from Kangertech.

The Subtank uses the new sub-ohm OCC (Organic Cotton Coil) coils, Kangertech’s newest innovation. It performs like a sub-ohm dripper but offers the convenience of a large capacity tank. The Organic Cotton Coils are made with Japanese Cotton, have a unique square shape and are said to have a longer life span, a larger heating section, and a purer taste! The sub-ohm Coil provides incredible vapor production and flavor!

This feature packed device comes fully equipped with a new adjustable airflow control, and sturdy glass tank. The Subtank gives you the choice of using the pre-installed OCC coils or the new Kanger RBA coil head if you prefer building your own coils. If you want to enhance your vaping experience, the Kanger Subtank Clearomizer is perfect for you.

I like that this one, unlike the original Subtank, doesn't require you to swap out the top cap to switch between the OCC and RBA. Bonus for being a better size for a lot of 18650 mods. The original (which I do enjoy) always struck me as being a strange size; several mm smaller than a 26650 mod, but several mm larger than an 18650.

This is definitely going on the wishlist... Can't leave that $5 Superbowl gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket too long!

However you want it, SlowPuppy.

Was not sure because of the warning Danno put at the end of his post

Can you build,, say 2.2 ohm coil and use this on a regular vv PV?

That is because Danno was referring to the heads that come with the Subtank... your question was regarding a head you build yourself so it would then depend on how you build it.

For the factory heads...

On the 0.5Ω coil it recommends between 15-30w which means the battery should provide at minimum at least 10a with 20a better since they sag when put them under a load. For the 1.2Ω head, recommended at 12-25w range... so I'd say the minimum would be at least 7.5a and the 20a would still be suggested so you can vape longer before that sag starts to affect the output.

On heads you build yourself... figure out the amperage that it'll use and then add another 25% more to it to address the sag issue under a load...

So that recommendation was for the included heads... not ones you built yourself which is what you asked about.

Slow....

Let me add a recommendation...

If you aren't going to use it on a good regulated mod or a mech mod with good batteries, such as a standard VV mod like you asked about... Get one of the Aerotanks and use something like the 1.8Ω heads or go with one of the Aspire Nautilus tanks. You should get good flavor and decent vapor with those... just don't expect to win a cloud contest :D

If you do get a more powerful mod... get something with a 50w-70w range on it so you can move into these sub-ohm tanks if that is the direction you want to do.

With the Subtank... a minimum of 30w ( I vape mine at 23w personally but others go up to 35w ) but a 50w will also leave you some head room to work with. An Aspire Atlantis tank... expect to need 30w-40w ( depending on your preferences and the juice you are vaping)... the Smok Vapor Chaser Tank ( VTC ) will want similar power to the Atlantis... the Joyetech Delta II will need up to 45w...

Thanks rdsox I want to try the sub- ohm but don't have the device at this time, thinking of going with a mech mod to get there. I need to get another tank and thinking this may be better then a protank 2 ... Funds are low so trying to get best I can with what I have.

If you don't have something that will handle it... and you are getting another mod to do that... go regulated. The mech mods are cool but they are a lot of work to get set to what you like since you have no adjustment other than the ohm's of the coil. Still serious about the 50w-70w range suggestion even if you don't use all of it... should save you needing to buy another ( as long as it's a good one of course ) because suddenly you find something else new to try. Also, getting more power than you think you'll ever need, means you won't be working the electronics as hard so it should live longer.

Get an AFC ( air flow controller ) for your Protanks you've got.. instant upgrade in flavor and vapor and the best bang for your buck. The Aerotank Mini and Aerotank v2 are also great upgrades from the Protanks ( about the same as the Protank w/AFC ).
