Kanthal and taste

Ok... if I use the kanthal that came with my tanks the taste is fine. One is just standard 26 and the other is clapton.

If I use some from a spool I bought from a local place I get a 'funky' taste despite dry burning in pulses for about a minute.

Is there a break in period for some kanthal?

weird, my kanthals I get from my vendor doesn't have any funky taste after dry burn.

I think you should avoid buying kanthal from local places for these two reasons...

1) the funky taste you are experiencing is not normal for kanthal
2) B&Ms jack the price by a sacrilegious amount of money

Temco - very inexpensive, quality kanthal.

Try washing the wire with hot! water and washing liquid before wrapping and dry burn
