Has anyone ever experienced a salty taste after a few days with a coil? Vapers production is fine but after 2 days with an Innokin 0.5 isub coil I am getting strange flavor. Also the common crackling noise with these new has all but gone. I use burley beard tobacco from Velvet Cloud so high VG... I'm wondering if the Kanthal is gunked up from that and or just giving off strange flavor. My coils don't seem to last long in my isub with cool fire IV plus. Can I clean them with something? Thanks

Few days with any coil with your liquid will get gunked up, it is mainly carbon build up I am assuming is your salty taste you are getting, and yes that carbon sheath that has built up will stop the crackling noise.

1) It is a tobacco, dark liquid, possibly with a sweetener or even vanilla or caramel in it - Tobaccos are notorious coil gunkers
2) High VG liquid. VG is sweet and thick so will build up carbon faster than PG

Cleaning you can try soaking them in Vodka or Everclear to break down some of the carbon and crystalized impurities for about an hour or two, then rinse under distilled water and let sit out to air dry for about a day will give an extra day or two of use.

sounds like normal coil gunking.
i try to dryburn and rewick my coils every 2 to 4 days.

I hear people talk about 3-4 weeks with a coil. I am lucky if I get 3 days on either of my setups. I had one last 7 once.

I'm wondering if rate of consumption is the difference between 3-4 weeks and 3-7 days. I know I never had anything near 3-4 weeks with a prebuilt coil more like 4 days, a week if I got really lucky.

I'm going to try it. But aren't Kanthal coils built in a factory and at home pretty similar? What makes hand built coils last months?
Those thin prebuilt coilheads are cheaply assembled.
Grab a good RBA and you'll never buy prebuilt coilheads again.
Building cost a fraction of what you will spend on coilheads.

OK is there a good place to get quality wire then?

Some things you'll need to prepare.

1) Learning "Ohm's Law" and "Watts Law" or get a basic grasp of them for safety. Mechanical Mod you'll use "Ohm's Law" formula, Voltage/Resistance=Highest Amps you'll pull, 4.2v is fresh charge on a Liion battery, so example 4.2/1ohm=4.2amps, 4.2/0.5ohms=8.4amps, 4.2v/0.25ohms=16.8amps. Regulated mod you'll use "Watts Law", Wattage Setting/Lowest Battery Charge before cutoff=Highest Amps, Example Evic VTC Mini Ver1 software, 60watts/3.0volts=20amps
2) A decent resistance "Ohm Reader" or Digital Multimeter to read your resistance (Ohm's) and an "Ohm's Law Calculator" on your phone to help with these calculations, just need to fill in the 2 boxes relevant to you, Mech = 4.2 for volts and your resistance (ohms) calculator will do the rest and fill in the other 2 sections, Regulated your wattage setting and lowest mod shutdown voltage on your battery.
3) Basic tools, jewelers screw driver set, flush cutting wire snips, maybe some diagonal cutters, some needle nose pliers, maybe some tweezers, and pair of scissors.
4) Get Kanthal and Nichrome wire from Temco Industrial Power, 90% of Kanthal and Nichrome resellers buy wire from Temco, so cheapest to go to a direct manufacturer and save money ;)
5) Ko Gen Do, Moji Cotton, or Rayon I'd probably look at Lightning Vapes.

Thank you. I like my tobacco but maybe I should look at something else. This juice is very light and guaranteed no sweeteners. Its an all natural and organic company. I wish I could vape stainless steel but that is just TC right?

" all natural and organic " if it was truly an all natural NET it would be a slightly dark gold, I could only imagine, what it is ( all natural diketones ) your really inhaling ...........................
