I have just received some 36 guage kanthal www.ebay.pl/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310101700564 and made it about 2 ohms on my ego battery for the repairable atomizer I just made, similar to the rca jack atomizer. I used it with 400 stainless steel. Well when I went to try it out I received a horrible burn taste and smell.. I don't know what's going on with it.. I've even tried burning without wick to make sure it was the kenthal coil and the smell was coming from the coil. Can anyone help me with my problem? Thanks in advance

I'm assuming you're talking about 400 SS mesh for the wick? Did you temper it before vaping? Once the SS mesh wick is rolled, I use a torch (there's a bunch of Youtube vids on this) to oxidize it really well (at least 3 times) and then burn it with some straight VG to seal it up. The kanthal resistance wire shouldn't give you any problems.

As an FYI, here's some measures on Kanthal resistances:
Kanthal Wire
Gauge Ohms/ft Ohms/in Required Inches
32 13.81 1.151 1.912
34 21.28 1.773 1.241

And I use 400 SS T-316 mesh

Thank you both! I did try burning off anything that may have been on the coil. and yes I meant ss mesh :/ forgot to put that one in there heh.. I did oxidize the mesh and there seems to be no shorts. I hope this can be figured out its quite upsetting.. been anxious for the wire and mesh seeing that was all I needed to get it up and going.. and that a lot of people say to use kanthal and ss mesh.. just that taste is impossible to get over... its like it burnt into my smell/taste scences. Thanks again
