Kanthal Wire Guage for coiling. Help

Hi. Which guage of the kanthal wire is required for coiling? Would it be 26,24, or 28?? Please help!

depends what your needs are. but I can say 32 and it won't mean anything. what do you plan on building? a super low ohm fog machine? a microcoil in an rda or microcoil in a protank? a genesis style tank? vivi nova?


so to give you an answer I'll say 32awg.

24 is a thicks as a paper clip... forget that one...

26 is thick as well..

As a beginner, go above 30... and get a feel for it.

32ga. was what I started with and I'm happier for it. You'll wrap at a higher resistance with fewer coils, and it takes less force to wrap, which makes it less likely that you'll "choke" your wick. You'll find out quickly that wicking is half the battle.

I'm now using 28ga. with around 9 wraps for about 1.5-1.8 ohm coils. Loving the results, but it definitely takes practice and a steady hand.

I am in same situation as OP and wondered if others would recommend going flat or round especially for those of us starting out.

Yeah that's that store up in valrico fl. That's also where I got the temco link. I thought it was awesome of the vape store to sell quarter samples and then link out to best place to buy bulk. Very stand up of them and makes me want to do more business with them. However I didn't find them until after I ordered a variety of 10ft 28, 30, 32, 34 wire and 2ft each of 2 and 3mm silica for just under $15 with shipping from another place. Good luck with your rebuilds.
