Hey guys good afternoon. I recently purchased a Kato Popular 2 based on the looks alone and a small sellers pitch from the vape shop. And also a Provari Mini for my girl. I cant help to love the Provari because it ALWAYS works! Pick it up and I get loads of flavor and vape. I personally enjoy tinkering with things but when I purchased the unit I didnt and still dont know much about the rebuildable systems.

After getting sold the Popular 2 I mentioned to the shop that this was new to me and after I purchased the unit they kinda blew me off. Since the internet these days has such vast information I didnt worry about it and figured I could do it myself.

After reading about voltage and ohms and being able to blow out certain things I immediately decided that I didnt want to ruin something I really liked....at least aesthetically.

Ended up going to a different vape shop got set up with the aga-2+ and within 15 minutes it was done. I was happy and tipped the guy $30.

Not having any friends that vape I wasnt sure if it was hitting correctly but whatever I was cool with it....now after a week the damn thing hardly even smokes so I havent touched it since. I dont even think the coil is heating up. And everything looks like it did the day they built it.

I guess what im trying to say is how often do you need to rebuild these....and can anyone recomend me a very detailed write up for an aga-t+ that works and I wont have to tinker with it all the time. I want to like this mechanical setup but I might just sell it and go provari for my own personal unit as well.

Any info and links would be awesome. Thanks!

Rebuildable Atomizer Systems

Get some standard stuff that you don't have to fiddle with so much for starting out. Advance into the RBA stuff.
You can gunk up a coil in a week easily.

You also need a multimeter if you don't have one.

Also, if you use an all-mech mod you have to select the proper ohms (like 1.8-2.0 ohms). And know that it will follow battery voltage....
And make sure you use protected batteries. Or even IMR batteries.

The provari or any battery supply won't stop your need to rebuild the coil.
Also use clear juice if you can...gunks slower.

Sounding familiar . As AttyPops has already said . Stick to the basics for awhile . RBA's are really for a seasoned vaper . ANd even then , they're not that easy to set up . So try some clearomizers like the Vivi-Nova's , or some of the Kanger clearo's , like the Evod , the T3 , the Mt3 , or even the Kanger Pro tank . Very easy to use , and they sell replacement atty heads fairly cheap . So you don't have to mess with rebuilding anything for awhile . Good Luck .

I'm the type of person that likes to dive in. I rather start in the"seasoned" side of the spectrum because I feel like I wont end up spending a bunch of stupid money on stupid things... I rather start expensive because I hate having to upgrade. Although I can now tell that it becomes frustrating since I don't know anyone that vapes.

Thanks for the info btw! Both you guys.

Also if im not mistaken mechanicals should only be used with RBAs correct?

I'm not doing much today maybe I'll take my unit apart right now and fiddle around. Time to purchase a torch and multimeter and figure out how to measure all these values.

Standard atomizers can certainly be used with mechanicals. And always have been. RBA's are ....just now becoming common. All-mech mods have been around since nearly the beginning of vaping.

Just get the proper ohms. See previous post.

Make sure you use safe batteries and a well vented PV if you want all-mech for some reason.

Sounds like you could benefit from some more reading/research...so you know your options. Not that I'm being mean. You just need to read up a bit. There's lots of options and all levels of expense. Depends on what you want to do too. What features you like or don't like.

defenitly appreciate your insight actually. I just didn't want to give up on a fully mechanical mod just yet. Ive only used it less than five times in one month cause everytime I fire it up it used to flood like crazy, then eventually fixed it and now for some reason when I hit the button the coild isnt even getting hot. I dont think its the batteries being low but im charging both of the ones I have now....the whole multimeter thing I didnt know much about either because when I took it to get built they didnt measure it so I figuered it wasnt very important. Wrong! Haha thanks guys. Im going to take apart what they did for me and put it back together with new wire and mesh. Then measure the resistance and see what I get. By then my batteries should be fully charged....my batteries say efest 1100mAh IMR 18490 3.7V

Hang in there. The Popular 2 is a very nice mechanical mod. Sounds like you may have popped the coil on your atty which would explain why it isn't firing. Rebuild is the way to go. Hopefully, the guy who built yours showed you how to do it. It's not real hard, just need the wire and wick.

PS: You know you can clean the mesh wick and re-use it, right? Just run a few coils around it and attach it. BUT, check it with an ohm meter to make sure there's no short in it.

Im kind of at the point where im just annoyed. Its alright tho im in southern california and there seems to be vape spots popping up every couple weeks. I just need to make the time and the patience to sit down with someone thats actually willing to teach me. I got it firing up after I rebuilt it and got rid of the hotspots but the multimeter I have I didnt understand how to use it really so I juiced it up and started vaping and got some really burnt taste. So until I figure this out ill just be smoking out my girls pink provari haha.
