Not that it will happen in your case but in the vet world daschunds and chihuahuas have the reputation of being difficult to potty train. Several of our clients trained them with the leash method. You leash the dog and tie the leash to your waist so it cant leave your side and you can watch for potty time behavior and catch it before it happens.
thanks for the head's up on that. The more I look at him, I don't really see chi, or if it is, I don't think it's a lot, but his mouth, jaw etc is really doxie looking especially in profile. That combined with longer body and the shape of his legs I'm pretty convinced he's part doxie. The vet said maybe part Corgi but when my son took him back, they both forgot to do the dna testing on him. I'd been wanting to do it for Frankie, but my son was never on board. I did tell him it's good to know so you know what types of health issues are common in the breed and what to watch out for. Then with the puppy, I told him it would be really good to know what he's bred to do to know how to better train, and which behaviors are things that come instinctively to him. He finally saw that logic in those reasons. We'll do the puppy first, then do Frankie later on. I'm surprised they didn't do a routine blood draw on either of his first two visits, but am kinda glad they forgot so they weren't doing it just for that reason. Easier to do when they're already doing a blood draw for something health related, but I really wanna know. Would a ..... eared and a flop eared mix produce his collie like ears maybe?

Hadn't heard of the leash method of potty training. I can't see Ozzy being one, but wonder if that has any tendency to create a velcro dog. I would imagine that has more to do with a dog's insecurities than imprint though. Ozzy does follow me everywhere I go, but that's kinda normal for a puppy. Frankie will come find me if I'm in another room a lil longer than he thinks I should be. lol

I'm thrilled to say that they are getting along sooooooooooo great now! It's so kewl to see Frankie (who will be 4 this month) rediscovering his inner puppy! At first he was a bit of a grrrr mudgeon with Ozzy's energy, but now he mostly really enjoys playing with him. Very few growls over the rambunctiousness.

I teach my dogs to potty on command. With travel it can be a lifesaver. For initial training we just go out and I watch closely. When it looks like the are going to go I say "go potty" (exact words don't matter) and then good potty when done. I don't say anything until we get outside. Takes time and consistency, but eventually they catch on.

I am thinking Chi too. A Boston would have a shorter nose. Won't really be able to tell much more until he gets older. And there could be more than 2 breeds involved, too. Mixes of mixes are hard to tell.
This is pretty much what I've been doing, cept I say go potty before he goes outside. This last week or so I've been very lazy and have just been letting them both go out the back (fenced) without me. He's getting much better and has stopped pooping in his crate at night, but yesterday was in and out all day long (he loves being in the backyard), then came in and peed in the floor  oh, and very true on mixes of mixes.

Hope I'm not boring everyone with puppy stories.

DSB is maybe 15 miles from me.
those are my inititals. Wish I was 15 miles from you!! I would get to see my Kenna, and I loved that area when I lived in Galveston!

I might see what I can arrange. You'll be way too close for me to not try and meet you. Even if it's only for a minute or two.
that would be sooooooooooo kewl!!! We had a porch gathering last April in Florida, and it was so incredible to be to spend a week with folks that some of us had been friends/family for 4 yrs or more at that time. Can't beat real life hugs!

Well my day turned pretty quickly. :( My daughter called me last night on my way home from work asking if I could take Noah to the dr. I said I would providing she get me an appt within my work schedule. So she calls me a few minutes ago, she talked to the nurse who said that he needed to come in. They give her an appt...at 4:15. I tell her that I have to work today, no ifs, ands or buts about it. So she then proceeds to try and make ME feel guilty that I won't blow off my job to take him to the dr. Insert many bad words here. :grr::grr::grr::grr:
Hope he's on the mend now. Glad the doc chewed her out, and really hope you didn't let her make you feel guilty. She can't take off but expects you to, I don't think so Sparky!

First day home after 3 days with 3 little toenailie, tippy toey, yappy pups that I love dearly. Everything went great until 4:30am every morning when the alarm went off. Full blast. The pups are all over me, kissy, kissy, feed us, potty us, & I'm just trying to get across the king sized bed to figure out how to kill the alarm & go back to sleep. They have potty paper so thatvs no biggy. Then yesterday morning one of them punished me. I woke up & found one of my quilt festival t-shirts in the doorway floor. It had big holes chewed in it. And my 60.00 Orthoheel houseshoes were missing. I found them both in the recliner in the family room. Unchewed thank goodness! I did get started on a Vikings marathon. Other than that, my ears are tippy toe tapped out. Having some Guat & chilling at home now!

oh no.......sorry about your shirt. Glad the slippers were unchewed. We're really blessed that Ozzy only chews on his toys and rawhides. He'll take a "taste" of something else once in awhile, but tell him no and he pretty much leaves it alone after that. He is a sock thief though. Every time my son or dil leave their door open he always comes out of there with a sock!

Everyone having cold weather issues stay safe! I'm with Kaezz!

lmao! JUP!! swiped this!

I'm safe today! Back in my usual spot. Shew! What a relief!! :)
yay!! still hoping the perfect job will find you though!

BUT, her ear is not getting worse. There's a little hematoma, but over the past few days, it has not enlarged..... I am praying that we've rounded the corner - she's been through Hades and back.
really do hope with you that y'all are at the tail end of this!

I messaged with @Debadoo earlier. She has the flu & is going to be MIA for a bit. She's not feeling good at all, poor kiddo. Prayers & good vibes are welcome!

thanks for letting folks know. Didn't want anyone to worry. I caught up mostly the other day, then ran out of energy before I could complete it. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Still not great but am sooooo much better.

I know, right? Apparently it has to do with pronunciation, which I still don't really understand yet. I'm trying to focus more on reading/writing right now. The tablets are in a Semitic cuneiform style language that were found in Ugarit. Which is essentially in Canaan from around 1400-1350BC. Of course, the Canaanites were wiped out many, many years ago, so....

It has been some very interesting reading though!
that is so kewl!!

Local travel advisory already extended to 5pm tomorrow, looking at anywhere from 10 - 20" more snow
emoji5.png
yuck. hope Spring comes soon for everyone! Except @Rayonati Sloth since he's one of those weirdos that loves snow and cold

Apparently when the imaging place sent the insurance company their bill they didnt code it right and they charged them way more than the agreed amount per their contract so of course the insurance company declined it.

So instead of sticking to the agreed price and correct code the ultrasound place's solution was to try and collect from us. NOT!!!

We dont owe them another penny. We know it, they know it and the insurance company confirmed it and is handling it. But what a damn hassle. No wonder insurance cost so much.
that's horrible. Hate it when you have to do other people's jobs for em. Have gotten their attention a couple times by telling them how much of their paycheck I expected them to send me because I had to do their job for them. :D Really hope it is straightened out quickly. I recently received a 196.00 bill for an MRI when it should have been zero on my part. but it was easy. I called, said why did I receive this.....lady says........I really can't tell you why, but looks like it wasn't filed, and I'll take care of it.

Doing some midweek Rozting (decided to hold off on the roof raking until tomorrow - windy and still snowing).

A rare behind the scenes look at where da magic happens:

Bear (front) and Maggie are my Aussie assistants.

To the left of the roaster is a small box fan, which pulls a lot of the smoke/scent outside. There's also a pretty good ceiling exhaust fan.

Behind Maggie is the cooling fan on the little frame that holds a colander. Beans go from the roaster into the colander, cooled to room temp in under 4 minutes.

The mason jars in the window sill hold roasted beans.
Beautiful assistants!! Give em both cookies from Aunty Deb. :D Kinda kewl to see where all the deliciousness comes from.

To add to the "Week of Mondays"..... SO just called. She's had an "event"/exacerbation/something ain't right.

I need to jockey flight plans and head down to go get her..... A friend is with her this evening, and she's going to the doctor tomorrow. Gotta see if my dog-sitter is available, and figure out what flight I can take.

Prayers, please.....
oh dear. Hope she's ok.

@DingerCPA {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

We haz a new grandson this morning! Jackson Clark, 6.8 lbs. Born on my Dad's birthday. :)
Wahooooooo!!!!!! What a wonderful thing, and to be born on great grandad's bday!

I dropped my ipad and broke the glass. Grrrrrrr!!!
oh that stinks. Hope you can fix it easily!

Oh, thank you! I like CrazyLand! It's just like my normal life.
welcome darlin!!!

If anyone wanted to try rayon wick I can probably set you up with some
if you happen to think of it, toss a small piece in the next coffee shipment please. I've been toying with the idea of trying it again to see if it and I can become friends, but didn't wanna ask anyone to send me some.

The easiest way to get those birds outside is to draw the drapes so the room becomes dark and open a window. The bird will be drawn to the daylight and fly out.
oh that's kewl. Wouldn't have thought of that, but it makes sense.

On the other hand, as I was writing the above, I heard two barred owls vocalizing with each other and it sounded like it was right outside my front door. It was!!! I stepped out and watched them and I heard a third one in the distance responding. In my area, it's nesting, and reaffirming-vows time of year for these owls so they're very vocal.

That was so cool. It made my day.
I used to live with a barred owl. I'm Native American and shared a house with some others when I was younger. The woman had a pet barred owl. He loved her, but was vicious to everyone else. I didn't approve of him being a pet, but wasn't my owl or even my house so I had no say in it.

Good morning shenanigaters. Anyone else in perkatory right now?

lmao..........swiped that one too! Love it.

Hi everyone just checking in again. Hope all is well. Parents getting remarried in a couple weeks & I'm bridesmaid. Not looking forward to the dreadful dress lol. Divorced for 19 years & suddenly living the happily ever after again. Crazy life lol.
oh that is so kewl! Hope it is forever this time! My ex and I years ago had a few times we thought we might get back together, but then one or the other of us would come to our senses. :D I suppose the dresses have already been chosen. Sorry yours really is a BM dress :p

an absolutely classic horrible B movie

LOL, thanks Kidz

Yeah, THREE years now.... I still feel like a noob. I still remember the last cigarette I smoked. I am grateful that I don't have to deal with that anymore. But more grateful for having found all of you....

Happy, happy 3 years, Dinger! Life is great, huh? You are about 5 months ahead of me!

I'm not sure this a win in potty training. I told lil bit......let's go potty, and he said.... Ok! and piddled before I could get him outside!
Hahahaha! Mack goes on command. He is hilarious! Take him out, & if he comes back without doing it I tell him go potty! He looks a me & goes & does it. Then he comes back & I have to tell him go poop. He looks at me & does it. I think he's humoring me. This is The Mack Look. He all but rolls his eyes.

Haha,i had a dog like that years ago,as soon as you said potty she would go,i tried teaching her to scratch at the door when she needed out too,but that also backfired. She would go potty on the floor, then run to scratch at the door when she was done haha.
That's like the ones that stand on the paper & potty on the floor.

@Bea-FL and @clnire and of course anyone else........ here are a few decent puppy pics. LIS, my amateur guess is boston/weiner dog. What do y'all think? These should be clickable thumbnails, so you can see em better.

too funny. Hope we have better luck with Ozzy. Frankie stands at the door. If he's just looking, he'll wander off. If he has to potty, he'll turn around and look at us. If we're too slow or he has to go really bad, he'll paw at the door
The ears have me thinking Chiwieenie.

Honestly, I don't remember. I generally aim for chocolates and fruits as the cupping notes.

I'm looking forward to testing the Colombian Microlot, made 5 sets of that today along with a couple of the Honduras Torre. The Rwanda has been quite nice too, I did a cold brew of it last night, will be bringing some in to work.

I'll send some rayon with the next coffee [emoji5]

(Auto correct has gotten bad on my phone lately, doing things like constantly changing "rayon")

Glad to have ya back @Debadoo! Glad you are feeling better. Never tire of puppy stories!

I haven't shown my Tasha in much obedience for several reasons, but we competed in Beginner Novice Thursday and Friday. Having done advanced obedience, to me it is a simple class but I was amazed at the team's that had trouble. Thursday we tied for first place with a score of 196 1/2 (200 is a perfect score), but lost the run off (my bad) and got 2nd place. Friday we got a clean 198 1/2 for first place! Not bad for a 10 yr old girl with an old lady handler! We had a blast :banana:together! Old ladies ruled! Both days there were 18 teams entered, so a good sized class. Our National Specialty is in May (only Belgian Tervuren in the show) so I hope to earn her BN title. She is my Bestest girl (she is my avatar picture).

On the road for one more week (Raleigh Lynn!) then I have kawfee waiting for me at the post office! :rickroll::toast::thumbs:
