Good morning my lovely and handsome Shenanigators!!:wub: I had fun plans for tonight that got cancelled way too early this morning. :( There was an offer to reschedule but it will be Thanksgiving before I have another Friday off :( Oh well....just wasn't meant to be. :) I hope everyone has a wonderful day! :):)

G'Morning Sunshine and all my other LURVELY Shenaniganators!

Sorry that your plans got borked LadyLynn :(

Thanks all, for the prayers and well-wishes for Momma. She was kinda funny coming up from anesthesia. I think today's gonna be a tetch different, now that the nerve block will have worn off

FINALLY - my USPS tracking shows my goodies to be arriving TODAY. I'm going to recoil the Serpent Mini (which does leak a bit when set on its side, but otherwise, I haven't been affected by leaking :w00t: ) with some non-twisted wire.

Trying to figure out what's going on with my KF V3+..... 28g SS316L wire. 3mm, 6-7 wraps. Rings in just under an ohm. I was pulsing it in power mode, and I noticed that the resistance was jumping all over Hades' half-acre. Kept checking the post screws, and all is quite snug. Wicked and juiced her up. Running in power mode (at fairly low power) was yielding nastay hits. Fired up SS/TC mode and it did smooth out a bit, but I've never had an SS coil be so temperamental when running between power or TC mode.....

Now you're making me a bit scared to try the SS wire.

Good morning, eberbodie! I hope that you all slept well and that this beautiful morning treats you all well.

@DingerCPA @LynnNC Sometimes you just get weird coils. I've had Titanium and Nickel coils do that from time to time as well. Checked post screws and everything else. Even made sure that the resistance was locked in at ambient temperature (forgetting to do that is a very common reason for fluctuating resistance with TC wire). The thing with TC wire is that as it gets hot, the resistance goes up, then drops again when the coil cools.

At least your safety meeting teach something that maybe a few people don't know, our last safety meeting the main focus was not to stick things like forks or knives into an electrical outlet haha.Seriously,99% of our safety meetings involve cartoon videos or very poor acting,of the proper way to plug in a cord or other very much common sense related stuff, but hey i get to sit down on the clock and get paid to watch them,so who am i to judge haha.

The wicking isn't too tricky on the lemo.I always put the chimney barrel on,then push the wick down in there, and spread it in the center so it isn't covering the juice slots in the center.Never had a leak that way.

My youngest son is 12,so i thought i was done dealing with small kids, but we have pretty much inherited my wifes 5 year old niece, she just won't leave haha.At least she's a good mannered, quiet girl,it's funny though, she is scared of me for some reason,so if i walk in the room, she usually runs out haha.

Hahahaha! You should have seen the video we had to watch for that, though. I think it was shot back in 1970 or something. That was definitely some superb video editing! Most of ours are as equally useless as yours sound to be...

I actually love kids. Just don't have any of our own. My wife's medical issues prevented us from being able to have any. A month or two ago, my sisters came down with my nieces and nephews... I had a blast playing with them, but in just two days, those kids beat me up! I had scrapes and bruises, got stung by a yellow jacket several times, and got my cell phone thrown into the swimming pool... even with all of that though, it was a lot of fun!

I LURVE SS wire - I'm starting to use it a bit more. This was just the first "weirdness" I've seen - it could very well be the KF "contributing" to the weirdness. I am thinking about snagging some Nichrome 80 as well. Just for a tetch of variety.

The mod I was pulsing on was NOT TC, so that helps explain the change in resistance

I was a little surprised that it was so harsh in Power mode - mebbe I had it set too high for non-TC?

Yep, probably changing because it was not TC, and so, the resistance couldn't be "locked in". You have to do that with TC. Usually there is some combination of button presses (+ and Fire together, for example) that locks in the coil resistance. Be sure to do that when the coil is cool, not after firing or pulsing.

As for why it was harsh, yes, it could be too much wattage for the amount of wicking and available airflow.

I like Nichrome, because it is kinda similar to SS, but doesn't have the same variation in resistance with temperature change. It definitely works better as a spaced coil, though. Contact coils have to be VERY carefully pulsed before you wick and use them with Nichrome.

Oh, good! So it won't be so hard to get to the build deck, after all? I think I know what you mean, it sounds kinda like the chimney on the Silver Play. It's a two piece chimney, and if you only took off the top part, it would be a real pain to get to the build deck...

I will! Some day, things will settle down, and I'll be able to make time for that. I just hope that it happens before they get too old (and too cool) to want to hang out with their uncle!
Exactly! After twisting the top off, it would have been very difficult to get to the base.

I am really enjoying my neice getting older :) We can do more stuff together the older she gets, and its not like babysitting :) We have alot of fun together! She does not want us to take her home this evening ;) Shes so funny, she told us that she will still come stay with us when shes 20.....lol She asked me how old will I be when she is 20, and when I told her I would be 40 she said that she wouldn't think I was old and that I probably wouldn't look like I was 40! Haha

I agree on all accounts haha.
I am an ebay addict, anything i can buy from there, gets bought from there,i even sell stuff sometimes too but the profit gets spent back on there,so no real profit to made haha.
The lemo drop is a great tank,i have both the full size and the drop, and like the drop a lot better.
As for niece's staying over, yeah we have that covered too haha.2 of my wife's niece's stayed with us for a bit over over a month due to their mom having some issues. One is 3 and the other is 5.The 3 year old finally went back to her mom,but apparently we must have been a bit too nice to the 5 year old because she refuses to leave now haha,so she's been here 2 1/2 months. It's sad really, because i don't know the story behind it,and she won't tell us why,but the 3 times my wife has taken her back to her mom,she screams and cries and absolutely refuses to stay there,so we are currently working with her mom to more or less get custody of her.

I really love the lemo drop! Ebay is so great! I really like buying so many things from there. You can find some great deals!

That was pretty cool of you guys to take them in when they needed it :) Hopefully she will go back to her Mom soon :) She must really love you guys! My neice never wants to leave....lol We are overly nice to her and spoil her so she gets upset when we take her home. Its hard to not be too nice :)

HA! Yep, I couldn't imagine trying to coil and wick that thing with that bottom part of the chimney on there!

That's so cute and awesome!! I hope that I can build that kind of relationship with my nieces and nephews! :)

I have noticed that SS is temperamental like that, especially different grades of SS.I have some that just says stainless steel,no number id as to what variant it is,but it jumps like crazy while pulsing/dry burning.I also have some 316L,and like yours it jumps around too,but not as bad as the other one.I know what i build them at,so as long as it reads correctly after the coils cool down then i'm happy. As for the harshness, are you sure it's not the wicking?I haven't noticed any harshness at all with either ss wire that i have, and i build low, around .3-.4 ohms and run them around 45-50 watts,if mine was harsh i would know it pretty quick haha.

We got lucky and ended up with 2 boys.Through the years,my wife had several miscarriages and the doctors said it was something to do with her uterus walls being too thin, and said that she could likely never be able to carry full term,we ended up getting lucky once,so continued to try again, and it took 10 years between the 2 haha,so we have a 22 year old and a 12 year old,and i am done regardless of what my wife wants haha.
I've never had my phone thrown in the pool luckily, but last summer we bought my younger boy a real nice windows phone.2 hours after he got the phone,he decided he wanted to swim, and jumped in the pool.Problem is,the brand new phone was in his pocket when he jumped in,i was not happy that day haha,it was a fairly expensive phone, and i had not started the insurance on it yet.

That's what I was thinking, too. Something off in the wicking/airflow...

My wife has Type 1 Diabetes and several other auto-immune diseases. And now, there's the cancer. The radiation treatment affected her ovaries and now there is absolutely no chance of children for us. Unless we adopt, but that's a whole different story. We've reconciled with the fact that we won't have children, so we just spoil the ones that are close to us. ;)
Ouch! Didn't even make it a full day! Yeah, I'm pretty sure that I'd have been more than 'mildly unhappy' at that point, myself... LOL

Adoption can be a good thing, especially if they are still really young or a baby, but it can definitely go way wrong too haha.Back about 15 years ago,my sister in law lost all her kids due to drug abuse,my wife had always wanted a daughter,so we got legal custody of her sisters daughter, and essentially adopted her.She was 5 or 6 at the time, and life was great for the first few years, then one day it was like the devil came out of that little girl haha. The next few years were absolute hell on earth. We finally had to make the hardest decision we've ever made, and send her back to foster care because after my youngest son was born, she was constantly making threats to hurt the baby and at one point attempted to hurt him. That was the final straw for us,if she stayed any longer,i would of ended up in prison.

Hi everyone!

Got my Tobacco absolute in today, for play.

It was time to reorder nature's flavors vanilla diacetyl-free. Since I'm running higher power I run through about 15 ml of liquid a day, net just under a pint of vanilla flavoring in a year :)

The incremental cost to buy a full quart instead of a pint was trivial - 1 guess which I bought :D

If anyone else is a fan of nf, likes vanilla, happy to send some in a couple weeks when it arrives. It's a pg-free organic flavoring, I've been using it for over 5 years.
