Or, you can use a small, poweful magnet. If it sticks to the wire, OK to dry burn. Ni and Ti aren't ferrous enough to stick a magnet to. Kanthal will stick, the stainless we use, I think SHOULD stick, but not all stainless will.

Nope, my magnets stick to Ni200. Also to Kanthal and stainless 316L, but not to Ti.

Oh shoot lynn, I think you'd also have to add half the wire diameter to that ID to be accurate... but should be ballpark.

Short answer dear, you can't dry burn if you have Ni200 in there. Short of knowing the length and diameter of the wire, no safe way so you have to assume that any one of them could be the Ni200.. drats. TOSS the ni200, and any Ti, and no longer gotta wonder or worry. What I'm doing.

I only have a sample of Ti. I didn't like building with it as its too flimsy. I'll just build with the ni200 until I use up what I have but keep those coils separate(both used and unused) then do the same with my SS316 and Kanthal.
