Or, you can use a small, poweful magnet. If it sticks to the wire, OK to dry burn. Ni and Ti aren't ferrous enough to stick a magnet to. Kanthal will stick, the stainless we use, I think SHOULD stick, but not all stainless will.
IRL is unreal enough at times. Looks like I've got a popup one day bidness trip to the Middle East next weekend. I just reached out to the shop I teach at to get coverage for a dive class (only 1 night of the course, but I don't think flights will get me home in time; I should know tomorrow)
