True, but you can phrase it as cutting into the base cost.
A grinder is something you already use, so doesn't count. I really like the Capresso Infinity burr grinder I got from casa.com
An sr500 roaster is 180, comes with 8 lb of coffee. Dunkin donuts store price is over $10/lb, and even generic tends to run about $7, so the roaster itself effectively costs about $100.
The only other thing is a way to cool the beans fairly quickly down to room temp, ideally in 4 - 5 minuted. I picked up a little 10" box style desk fan, place it on top of a colander holding the beans being cooled. Since I have a small shop area I built a little wooden frame to hold the colander and fan.
Where did the roaster come from? And the generic here runs about $9 a can, so I'm going to exploit that.
