Hey All,

I get great flavor when I use a cotton wick in my Kayfun, but start to lose that once the juice starts to run low, past the window. There's still juice in there, but the flavor starts to disappear. I also have to re-wick after every tank due to the flavor disappearing .. is this normal? I built the coil, at 1 ohm, and am using cotton as the wicking system.

Thanks!

I have found that it is all dependent on what juice I am running. I typically have max vg Vaporchef Carmel Nutty Apple and Oak barrel cider from epipemods (ultra high vg juice) With the Cider I never loose flavor, when it gets down to like 10 drops or less in the take the flavor level drops. On the other Hand the Carmel Nutty Apple looses taste at the point when it drops below the window. I am currently running a cotton wick on a 1.3 ohm micro I get 4 to 6 fills before I change the wick out and burn the coil off. It is not because I loose flavor but I am typically changing to a different flavor. (until my second kayfun gets here)

Odd.... I find that many times the flavor intensifies as I get below the bottom ring. The cotton wick will last at least 4 -5 refills. Does your wick look burned to you? You are using 100% cotton, right?

100% Organic Cotton. Maybe its my coil. I'm used to to 2.0-2.4 coils in the kanger pro tank. This is my first rebuildable and I had the dude at the store build it for me while I watched. He built a 1.0 ohm coil and it hit great and tasted great for the first tank. Once the juice got low, it started losing flavor and I refilled it. Flavor was pretty much gone, even when I refilled it. The wick was not dirty either, really clean, BUT it didnt look soaked. It looked like it had some dry spots. Normal? Maybe I'll try rebuilding my own coil, aiming for 2.0 or so .. How many wraps would that be around a 2mm drill bit? 10? I dont think I'm using too much cotton, but its frustrating!!

Don't think it's normal to see dry spots on the wick. You want your cotton to be saturated ALL the time. Otherwise you will burn it and get an awful taste when that happens. I use a #46 bit for my wicks and can't remember off hand the diameter in mm. The diameter depends on what kind of coil you want....micro, mini, nano, etc. There are all sorts of resources here where you can get a good idea of what way you want to go. Check in the Rebuildable Atomizer forum and then in the Coil sub forum. Tons of info there.
