I just got an MVP 2.0 and am loving it. I also just got a pt2 and kinda like it.. I can build the coils pretty consistently but it seems to be lacking at times. Sometimes it leaks. Sometimes the flavor just isn't there. Sometimes the vapor just isn't there. Anyways, I was thinking about trying a kayfun but can't justify that kind of money. Has anyone had success with any clones? If so, which ones? Or am I just not as good at building coils as I think??

Afterthought on OP's problem:

Your lack of vapor and/or flavor may be relating to your leaking problem. I've noticed that when I rebuild coils and don't put enough flavor wick in proportion to the size of my coil, it leaks, thus prohibiting proper conductivity of the battery and therefore keeping it from heating up to the proper temperature.

I do the 20ga syringe method with microcoils so I have to pack quite a bit of flavor wicking, even with super fluffy cotton wicks, otherwise it does leak and doesn't vape well (or sometimes at all.)

Moral of the story: Investigate.

That being said, try whatever atomizer you damn well please :]

I bought a Kayfun lite clone off eBay for $38 shipped. Works great. Weird though it was sold as a clone but has the same markings on the base as the original. Use it on my MVP2 and it has been really good so far. Had it for about a week.

It's a clone. Some clones are exactly like the real ones, cosmetically... I've been having leaking issues. I'm pretty sure I bought the same one.. around the same time. I'm about to put more wick in it... just in case the drip wells are larger than they should be.

I don't put a flavor wick in my pt2 coils at all.. I thought they were worthless.. Next time I build one I'll tuck a bit in there and try it out.. On average how long does it take befor you rewick or recoil? Mine takes about half a tank break in period before it tastes good, then after a couple tanks it sucks..

If I build the coil correctly, I can go 5 days without having to rewick. And I don't have to completely rebuild, I just take the cotton out and rewick.

The flavor wick serves two purposes: To keep hot juice from popping into your mouth, and to fill the space between the wick and the top of bottom of the knurled stem. Unless you're using a 3+mm wick (and therefore, coil), you'll need a flavor wick or else you'll flood. Haven't gotten to the point where I've HAD to actually rebuild yet, I just mess around a lot and end up rebuilding my coils all the time.

As far as break-in, with cotton, I give it like, 5 minutes upright, 2 or 3 good dry hits and then apply some power. Works every time for me and I can consistently get coils down to 2-2.1ohms.

I use cotton.. Not sure if that makes a difference or not..

In my experience it makes a huge difference because you have to think about rate of expansion when the wick is moistened.

If you're using the 20 gauge syringe method, remember to use VERY LITTLE cotton to wick the coil, otherwise you could cause coil shift and overlapping by pulling your wicking material through. I find that it works best if it has a little bit of play. It will expand and fill the coil when it is wet. Basically, I let the stem hold the wicks in place. When I can move the wick around without the stem on but not with the stem on they're locked down, that's how I know that it's the correct amount.

Also, if you're pulling the wick through and you notice the tug of the coil pulling against you, it's best to stop, pull the wick back out and reinsert it after taking a few strands off.

Oh it is definitely a clone, just thought the printing on the bottom was a little much. The only leaking issue I have had is when I turned it over during filling and my finger slipped off the air hole. Had some come out of there. I turned it back over and blew it out, but still had a few drops for a little while until I got the vacuum inside working correctly.

I would pay the extra $6 and wait an extra two weeks and get the stainless steel version
https://www.fasttech.com/products/1494700

Op said cheap and I offered cheap. Not only that, but if you watch the video the reviewers were both surprised and a bit ticked that the Rocket actually Vaped Better than the original.:)
Granted, $6 isn't a budget breaker - Got mine before the 3.1 clone was available, it is an excellent Cheap way to test the waters.

With exception of the V1 Fogger, I really haven't heard serious complaints about any of these clones or the original versions.

That is a kfl clone..

http://m.ebay.com/itm/261353947236?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1

This is a kfl+ by tobeco.. of course, it came up after I ordered. I already have a plus on its way..it's been almost 2months..last time I buy from chinese distributors, but I really want to see if the airflow control makes a difference.

The Kayfun Lite clone by Tobeco is just like the real Kayfun lite. The parts will interchange between them. The only difference is the clone has air flow control. I have one real Kayfun lite and two of the Tobeco clones and if I don't look for the air flow control screw hole I don't know which I am using.
