Kayfun lite Cotton wick problem

First, Hi to everyone since this is my first post. So, I built my first microcoil in the Russian 91%. Problem is after 5 minutes of vaping I get a nasty taste, open up the atty and my cotton wick is split in half. What gives? Too tight on the cotton or too loose? The cotton is organic, and my coil 1.2. Help!

If the cotton was burnt in half you most likely had too much and it wasn't wicking enough. The cotton should be fluffy and slide right thru the coil with little to no resistance. Also it looks like the coil might be a little too close to the air hole, but hard to tell at that angle. Try less cotton. Good luck!

Your cotton is more than likely too tightly pack in the coil. Like tmartin63 suggested try loosely packing a smaller wick. You should have fluffy and loose dry, then when you prime with juice it should swell and fit perfect.

Btw you ARE priming your cotton before you fill the kayfun, yes? Wet the cotton before you fully assemble your chimney and fill your tank.

Like mentioned above its more then likely a issue with too much cotton. Its a pain to find the right amount to use but once you do the flavor is amazing.

+1 for too much cotton being the issue. In pieces, acrid taste... yep, it's a wicking issue.

One other question about cotton wicks. Do people fluff their wicks at the ends on a kayfun? I haven't been and I feel like my vapor production is kind of poor. Could this be the reason? The flavor is there but the vapor does not look like it does in videos with similar builds and resistance. Even at 8 and 9 watts on my vamo. Any thoughts?

Just to add to the already great advice...try not to over roll the wick. If you keep rolling it real tight to make it fit better, it will eventually un roll and choke the coil again. It expands a lot when wet. Here's a fun build if you get bored...

I don't twist my cotton, ever. I gently form it...this works. A slight end twist just yo feed it..
