Kayfun lite plus micro coils

Ya I was all messed up when I fort got my kayfun and it was all due to my wicking.....
LESS IS MORE in the kayfun in my opinion.

I use 28g kanthal at 12 wraps for 1.6ohms and vape it at 5volts on the provari or 13.5-15 watts on my dna 20 mod. Works like a charm!

I told him 5/64 so he could get a little higher to the 1.6. 10 wraps with 28 gauge does not give you bad lag time at all. But yeah he could use 30 as well.

+1 on that.

It all depends on your wicking material also. I use yarn - use 3 strands, double over, pull through coil, viola! (Thanks to mackman!)

yeah if he is doing 3mm micros, thats way too much wicking in that chamber.

I am using a 2mm silica wick. I guess from what's being said here that cotton is the best way forward.

It is easier when doing micro coils. I've used 1mm silica with a bed of ekowool for my micros. It works but the coils tend to gunk up faster. If not for that reason I'd probably use silica much more often. Flavor wise, cotton definitely takes the cake. I'm not sure there's any other wick for micro coils

I always had perfect results on my Kayfun clone at 10 wraps on 28 Kanthal, 1.6 ohms, cotton pulled through chimney, clipped slightly above chimney, then gently pushed down the sides.

I was so impressed with myself, I ordered a Russian91 and tried to be like Riptripper and lay the cotton on the deck in a sorta "z" pattern and got terrible results.

I'm back to the old way and think I'll just be myself from here on out and won't be growing a beard or messing with the wicking system.

Yea, the only good results I've seen with silica on the Kayfun is using a standard "coil" on it.

Just orders some kanthal and will pick up some cotton tomorrow. So ......, been waiting for my kayfun and I get it with the wrong wire what a downer!!!!

While you are waiting you can do a non-micro coil wrap with the 32g....I'm trying to remember I think 5 wraps or so....if you have a meter to check it out might be worth a try. There are you tube videos on building the KFL without a micro coil...sorry I can't remember at this point what I used to do.

Although I didn't use them, your clone will probably come with extra o rings, screws, and a couple pre made silica coils to get you going

Great idea, 4 to 5 wraps should get him there. Regular coils work great in it. I ran it that way for a week before I did a micro with cotton and can tell little difference. It is much easier just to change the wick out with a micro.

Take some 32 Kanthal and twist it up - this set up gives .2 per loop using a metal screw I found (and just dropped behind my desk looking for markings on it) so 8 wraps is 1.6 ohms. Twisted wire will compress when heated and can make a decent micro coil...

I like 28g with 7 wraps on a 5/64 drill bit. Makes about 1.3- 1.4 ohms and I use the same set up on my KFL+ on a mech and my R91 on my ProVari at about 4.3 V I like the ease of threading the cotton through a bigger coil and it seems like a good balance with coil and wick for me.
