I was getting juice leaking through the airhole after filling my kayfun Lite from the top, and I found a frequently-reposted set of instructions involving covering the airhole, filling, screwing the top a couple turns, inverting and then screwing the top the rest of the way down. The argument was that it helped maintain a vacuum and kept the fluid from leaking out the bottom. And it actually worked - no leaks!

However, after one recent refill, I noticed a really harsh, dry hit. I searched here on ECF and found that TOO MUCH vacuum can create this problem and that removing and replacing the top can fix it. I tried it and it was better immediately.

So.... what's the solution? The filling procedure can actually cause the vacuum-induced dry hit. Is there a middle ground?

BTW, I covered the airhole during the entire filling process -- was I supposed to take my finger off at some point?

if your juice is of hi viscosity no need to cover the hole if you fill it fast.... the juice needs to be able to fill the inner coil tank to be a problem as your filling. Since the juice is thick enuf it wont have time to seep up into the channels and fill the coil chamber before you pop the top onto it... besides, for the theory to work properly, the chimney tube needs to be covered, not the air flow hole.... think about it!
