Ive been using a piece of ribbon to remove my batteries from my kbox mini as oppsed to using my finger nails in the past because i found that method would always leave marks in the positive end of the battery. Recently i got a new set of batteries and continues using the ribbon under the battery and just pulling it out once it needs to be charge. Since the batteries were new, i noticed that the negative ends are getting scratched up quickly and im pretty sure its due to them scraping along the spring in the mod when im taking the battery out. I dont know if this is bad for the battery and if i should go back to clawing the battery out or keep doing this...

I used a Kbox mini daily at work for about a year and just pulled the battery out with a fingernail from the positive end. That scratches the positive end of the battery, but it has not been a problem for my batteries. There are no exposed springs on either end so the scratches are very minor.

I just had a look at the mod and I think pulling the battery out with a ribbon would damage the battery sleeve at the negative end, unless you pull from the positive end. If pulling from the positive end, IMO it would be just fine.

I have always found these scratches on the battery terminals are irrelevant. They are not deep, more visual as opposed to causing damage over time. Just watch the battery sleeves and re-sleeve if they get too damaged to be safe.

I've only had the "too tight" problem on one of my mods, the IPV-5. It didn't matter what I tried, it just chewed through my batteries. It was still going like a champ, but man I'd also dropped it eleventy million times, so I retired it.

I have a couple mods that have really, really forceful ways to try and slide the battery door in, and some of them have little "circular divots" IDK what to call them really, but the pressure plus the little "button" inside the battery door has caused (pretty minor) but visible tiny dents in the batteries (negative ends primarily). I am still trying to decide what to do about that, the batteries don't seem to be WORSENING or anything, but it is an annoyance. I don't consider them unsafe (you can barely see or feel them) but I do check my batteries a great deal. The worst is my (Steamtuner's) DNA mod, it really puts some pressure on the battery negative ends. So, I'm just being vigilant at the moment.

Sometimes, sigh, it is six of one half a dozen of the other and etc.

I have a mech squonker with a similar issue. I cut up a ribbon from one of my kids' participation medals and use that pushed in with the battery. When it's time to change, just grab both ends of the ribbon and lift it out. Gotta remember to put the ribbon in with the new battery, or...

I have a Mod, a RSQ 80w Squonker, that the Battery is Hard to get Out. It has a Floating Negative/Fixed Positive Contact and no Battery Ribbon.

What I found Works Great is to take a Popsicle Stick, Cut the End Flat, then Chamfer the Flat Cut.

Now I can put the Flat/Chamfer end under the Positive End of the Battery and give it a Pry or two and the Battery just Pops Out. And since it is Wood, there is No Risk of poking around the Positive End of the Battery.
