Kbox 160 questions

Hi, was wondering if the Kbox 160 that I purchased from eBay is a fake or not. The online verification tool states that's it's legit. However, what's stopping counterfeit firms using the same hologram numbers on multiple boxes, as I think KangerTech doesn't have anything provision wise to delete an already verified number from their database.

Basically, on my Kbox 160, the firing button discoloured within a few days and also by accident I inserted the batteries in the wrong way, it burnt out the device even though the manual claims reverse polarity protection.

There are more fakes than genuines on ebay in my opinion, although there are trusted sellers and online stores. I'd take a look at reviews from the place/person you bought it from.

It's not unheard of for even a genuine product to perform poorly, so it's hard to say. However, in this instance I would probably try to get paypal involved if you can and return the mod as it's either a fake or defective (doesn't really matter which).

I'd also suggest taking a look at some of the registered ECF suppliers, to see if you can find a safer source for your e-cigarette needs. There are China based sellers where you may have to wait longer but plenty of US sellers as well.

I only recently started using rechargable 18650 batteries before that was using variable box mods that had the inbuilt battery. My last variable Cuboid 200 I think it was called started to mess around after 4 months- low atomizer or atomizer short messages , I bought that direct from Joyetech. They told me warranty was only 90 days . Hence why I bought the Kanger Kbox 160 last week via eBay which I'll be sending back as it blew up due to lack of polarity protection.

As reliable mods go I’m a fan of the ageis. It’s quite large but will take both 18650s and 26650s.

The jaq vapor mods are also thought well of. They’re much smaller and take 18650s only

I don't think anyone can "guarantee" a particular mod will last for a year. The Jaq series do have an awesome warranty period, longer than most, and will also repair mods (sometimes even when out of the warranty period). The geekvape ages is definitely rugged.

If you want a dual battery mod, I am fond of Teslacigs, in particular the Steampunk nano 120, the copper model (in particular) seems to have issues with the battery door (particularly with a lighter mod on top, I have noticed that with my Siren V2, the problem went away... My theory is that the larger topper made better contact with the 510 pin, which resulted in a more secure connection. Prior to that I used a silicone sleeve. Some of the newer/other color Steampunks don't seem to have that issue. It's heavy, but built like a tank as it's all metal. I have dropped it, leaked through the 510 pin etc., and it just keeps on ticking. LOL. Not for everyone, but teslacigs generally is a good company who stands behind their products and they have all sorts of mods for all sorts of tastes.

I personally like the eleaf invoke a lot, it's one of the smaller, lighter 2 battery mods that doesn't sacrifice design quality. I am hard on mods, it has been dropped, I have "tested" LOL the reverse battery polarity and it's fine, it's a fantastic little mod for the price and I generally find eleaf products to be high quality and long lasting. Would make a great out and about mod, in my opinion. But, there are tons of options, and some very good options out there at the moment. Pick a reliable vendor and go from there.

I personally don't do well with KT products, for me they're a bit flimsy and while someone else might do fantastic with them, I am hard on my mods. It would also be unfair to blame KT for your issues, as you don't know if it's a fake or not. They are a good vendor to many people, I am just really, really hard on mods.

But, there are no guarantees for any individual mod, although there are makers who do tend to be more reliable than others.

Cheer's looking for something below $50 that can take two 18650 batteries.

Also, any new or old large capacity sub ohm tanks that don't leak. I like the Kanger tank but they always seem to leak from the air intakes .Cubis tank was nice, no leaks. But I found the coils didn't really last long . I normally set my 0.5ohm coils to approx 20W.

Thanks alot for the information,.will look into them. My first "proper" mod after using Joyetech pen style batteries ( 4 years ago started vaping ) was the istick leaf I think it was. Lasted about a year actually, then the button started to stick and jam.

Edit. I didn't see anything called Jaq mods on the internet?

Does anyone know if the KT Kbox verification system to authenticate is good or bad? Meaning , what's stopping a counterfeit firm using the same code on all boxes for the Kbox 160? I'm assuming mine was like that.

I had a kbox 160 awhile back and it just died after 2 months of being babied. Never dropped and didn’t even leave the house. Since then I’ve been using Smoant mods and they are well built and performs well in watts and temp modes. They are some of the best valued mods available. The cylon is their latest and it’s their best. If you need a dual 18650 mod I highly recommend it. If you don’t like the looks of the cylon the ranker has the same chip(performance) in a different box. You can’t go wrong with any Smoant mod.
