Hey all!

I bought an Istick 30 and borrowed an Atlantis. I either have to give the Atlantis back or buy it. Trying to decide whether to keep it (and try it with MELO coils) or give it back and just buy a MELO. Or maybe somethingelse... suggestions?

Having kind of a weird issue with flavor out of the Atlantis (with stock coils). HI told the person I borrowed it from that everything tasted the same out of it. He said that was his fault because he had washed it with water, after putting some nasty tasting juice in it. He suggested I buy a new coil. I did and it was NIGHT/DAY different. Everything tasted great..... for about one day :-( Now it is back to being almost completely flavorless. Any idea what could be goin on, here?

Thanks in advance for any helpful intel.

Have you tried reaming a couple q-tips in and out of the coil to remove any gunk?
Peel some of the fuzz off the qtips so they fit in there and be gentle while doing it.
Remove any loose fuzz by blowing or picking it out, after the qtip comes out clean.
I do this whenever performance wanes. 4 weeks on this coil, probly over 100ml. of juice. Cheers.

Thanks guys! Yea, I started to clean it, just a little, I was worried that maybe I wasn't supposed to be sticking anything inside the coil. I thought there was a little difference but also thought it might just be wishful thinking because it wasn't the same level of change as when I replaced the coil (maybe because of the timid cleaning). I'm gonna go clean it right now :)

Thanks for recommending the Kanger Subtank. I have no idea how I did not notice that is was BOTH a tank and a dripper in one device. That is definitely appealing. Probably gonna go that route, is there anything negative about the Subtank I should know, before I order one?

Check the diameter of the Subtank. It's larger than 22mm. The mini Subtank is 22 mm. The Mini and the Subtank both come with a rebuildable deck.

Appreciate the hedzup, thanks :)

I actually did notice that when I looked at it, I just forget to put "mini" in my post. :D

Here's the crazy part - I just thought about it and the Subtank Mini is actually what my friend (the one who loaned me the Atlantis) is runnin :D I knew he had a Kanger, just didn't realize which one it was until now.

You can get all cotton coils for Atlantis now that work just as well or even use melo coilswith it, which I haven't tried, I just got the new cotton originals.

I don't think the Atlantis is even rated for 40w? I enjoy mine at 20-30 depending on the mood. Really just sounds like you are using some juice with a lot of coloring or something to gunk up the coils and wick or low wattage maybe? I get Atleast a week out of my coils and I usually change them before really needed because I was worried about the old ceramic wicking.

With that said I also have the kanger subtank mini and have nothing bad to say about that. Can rebuild or use their coils. Their coils are easy to rebuild or rewick and clean too, I just tend to get more flavor from the Atlantis which is why it stays in my pocket most of the time.

Different strokes for different folks. I will say I don't think you'll regret getting a subtank, now that you've had Atlantis too, can make up your own mind.

I think the only thing to look out for on sub tanks, which I don't think mini had the same problem, is you don't want the clear plasticy positive post insulators on the rebuild able deck. They changed it to peek a while ago but you never know when ordering online.

Edit: I guess the clear is the one you want? Either way just make sure it's the PEEK insulator on the positive post, which all the new ones are being made with.

The Kanger mini subtank is a nice piece and folks seem real happy with the versatility of choice with the rba option. It isn't a dripper though but more like a Kayfun style tank where you have to rebuild it yourself, so quite some possibility's with that.

The Atlantis stock coils are already out there with 100% cotton and the Melo coils fit and vice-versa. You can pick up a Melo for $19.99 and it looks, and vapes, just like the Atlantis, If you are interested in the new wave of temp control devices ie. dna 40 there will be coil heads made with nickel wire available soon for all those tanks and so to trump your friends kit, you might want to grab the HCigar dna 40 with the evolve board inside and they cost like $70:) Then your friend will want to be borrowing your stuff:D

I started off with the Atlantis and ended up buying 3 more of them since I loved it so much.

THEN I joined this forum and read all the rave reviews about the Kanger Subtank. I went to my local shop and picked one up. Most will say they're pretty similar but to me, I get better flavor with the Subtank Mini than I do with the Atlantis. Not to mention the Subtank holds more eliquid. I also like the fact that it offers a rebuildable deck.

I think the stock coils on the Atlantis could be better. I rebuilt an old one I had laying around with some organic cotton and it made a world of difference. I also popped off the Airflow Control ring and that gave me much much better flavor.

In any event, you won't regret the Subtank Mini. Keep us posted with your thoughts when it comes in!

Well, I just ordered a Subtank Mini. I hope I like it because I'm not in a position to keep both right now, so the Atlantis will definitely be going back to my bro.

I was really eyeing the Delta II, but the wick material worried me and the versatility of the Subtank Mini was hard to ignore.

Thanks again for all the input :)

I think you will like it, although you need to get ya some wire and cotton now for the rba option! Once you find a sweet build you enjoy, you'll save a ton on not having to buy replacement coils all the time-wire and cotton cost :2c:per build and that is where this tank outshines the others.

Enjoy:)

Having owned several Atlantis tanks, and knowing what I know now after reading hundreds of pages of posts on this awesome forum, I would advise you look into some of the other sub ohm tanks instead of the Atlantis. Some options: Arctic, Kanger subtank mini, Delta II... All get great reviews and have perks the Atlantis doesn't.
That said, Atlantis is a good jumping off point, so buying one wouldn't be a waste of money. I just think there are better options now... Enjoy!
