With vaporizers that have either replaceable batteries or built in ones you can't charge; I was wondering if it's best to fully deplete the batteries energy before recharging, or if recharging when it's around half way full is ok and won't hurt the life of the battery.

I've seen some people say you need to deplete it to zero, and others who say newer batteries do not require this. So I'm not sure which one a battery like a sub-ohm Sony for example would best be charged.

Also will it hurt the battery if left charging overnight?

Thanks!

Hi Will! As long as you have a good charger it should not overcharge your batteries. It's never recommended to leave your batteries charging over night but if you happen to, most chargers have overcharge protection.

As for cycling your battery... I got a lot of differing opinions on this when I asked... Hopefully @Mooch will be by to provide some insight.

Good advice from @Cullin Kin about charging.

No lithium-ion battery benefits, or has ever benefited, from being fully discharged before recharging. In fact, this reduces the life of the battery because it uses up part of one of the limited number of charge-discharge cycles (typically 200-400 for vapors) that the battery can undergo before wearing out. NiCd and NiMH batteries can benefit from this discharging-before-charging under certain circumstances, but no one vapes with those. :)

Recharging at half way full is no problem. If you're not going to use the battery for a couple of days or longer it's actually better though to leave it half-charged until you need it, and charge it then. But that is often not very convenient so just go ahead and charge it.
