I walked into Best buy today planning on spending $50 - $60 on a USB Power Pack for my Puresmoker Passthrough. I was pleasantly surprised to see the price listed at $49.99 on the rack, and even more so surprised to see it ring up for $39.99. I guess it's my lucky day.

If you were thinking about getting one of these for your passthrough, now might be the time. I did not notice if it was on any kind of sale.

It works just fine on the Puresmoker Pass.

This is also a great pack if your ever looking for another. Pretty compact, but it's 4400mAh(2600mAh more than Kensington). That's easily almost a week of use on one charge. It's also adjustable from 5v 1.5a out (equal to kensington)to 6v 1.2a for those who have diy usb passthru's with no voltage restrictors. Ordered a few to try out, still waiting on snail mail.

Yes. All passthru's should work on portable battery packs. Most portable battery packs put out 5v and vary from .1 to 1.5amps or better. Most pass thrus that are factory bought have a voltage limiter to the atty. So, really you only get 3.6-3.7v to the atty at 1-1.5amps.

Any way, find a battery pack that is 5v and atleast .5 amps, 1 amp would be better 1.5 amps would be best, and your good to go. The one I posted doesn't have a built in usb input. One of the cable adaptors is the female usb input.

The kensington and other packs found on ebay or where ever often do.

Depends. If you've been using your computer, depending on the type. Most common household computer's usb output is 5v .25 amps to .5amps. Apples usually put out 1amp as well as many laptops. Can't be sure unless you look at the specs of your computer or list the model so it can be researched without having to hook up a multi meter.

Anyway, this could help and this may not.

I feel like I wasted $20 on a 510 PT, It just doesnt match the performance of a factory battery. will a power pack give me the extra power i need to get decent performance?

(i have yet to try it in my truck - DC current - could that make a difference>?

I haven't noticed a big drop in power. I have two Janty PTs and one from ruyandirect. But there is a mod mentioned in one of the Kensington threads here where someone by passed the in line PT batt and when directly into the Kensington and noticed what to them, was a big difference. You might do a search on 'kensignton'. Seems it was in the last three weeks but not certain on that.
