My best friend got tickets to see An Evening with Kevin Smith tonight and I couldn't go due to being 4 hours away and having an 18 yr old kid with a broken leg to take care of. This sucked additionally since today is my birthday, and instead of being out seeing one of my all time favorite movie writer/directors speak, I'm home being bored. I asked her to try to get his autograph for me since her sister works at the place it was being held and she was going to be backstage.
I was sitting here watching TV and I get a phone call. I recognized the voice, after a few minutes of very strange conversation, and realized it was Kevin Smith! We talked for a few minutes and then he and a group of people with him sang Happy Birthday to me. Ended up being one of the best birthday's ever!
I had to share the news with someone so the first thing I thought of was to come to where I spend so much of my time and inflict my giddiness on you guys
.
For those of you who aren't familiar with Kevin Smith-- He wrote and directed Clerks, Clerks II, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Dogma. If you've never seen them, they are all worth watching (Clerks and Chasing Amy are my favs of the bunch).
