KGO with Smok Dual Coil Carto Producing Inconsistent Vapor

I recently purchased a KGO kit and didn't like the atomizers that came with it, so I got some smok dual coil cartos, filled them up per instructions (drip until it starts to come out bottom, clean off excess, wait a few minutes). Once I get it going, the vapor it produces is inconsistent. Sometimes I get good, clean vapor. Other times, I get little to no vapor, but instead a harsh almost liquidy pull that hurts the throat/lungs and produces no vapor. It also seems that the cartomizer is making a very loud clicking noise every time it fires up. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

When I started I read that "wait till it drips out of the bottom" thing too, and tried it.. In my experience, that's waaay too much liquid. Take the carto off, take the top off of it and put a napkin at the connector end.. then blow through it a few times to remove excess liquid.. blot the bottom connector a few times to get the rest. Then try it out. You'll probably need to refill a bit after a few hits, but just 6-7 drops for a standard length carto should be fine.. if it's an XL, try 10-12 drops.

If your carto 'gurgles', it's too much liquid.

Initial fill depends on the manufacturer, but I usually put about 6-7 drops in a standard length carto, then wait about 7-8 minutes.. put in another 5-6 drops.. wait another 5 minutes.. then 5 more drops and let it soak for 5 minutes more. Be patient, using it too quickly before the juice has soaked through and you'll burn the carto.

I really suggest moving to a syringe, it's much easier, and quicker. They're under $2 for needle + syringe.

Hairball is right on the money. You are trying to power two 3ohm coils with a 3.7v device. 3ohms @ 3.7v is only 4.5watts. So you are only running each of those coils at about half power. A 1.7 or 2ohm single coil carto will vape circles around a DCC at 3.7v.

Your fill method sounds like it has a little to be desired. I can make juise drip out the bottom of a new carto with only about 10 drops if I wanted to. You need to let the juice soak in as you are dripping. Tilt the carto to the side and drip 5 drops, then let it soak in, add 5 more drops and let it soak in, etc, etc. A DCC will hold about 30 drops. If your carto won't hold that much, it's because you are putting it in to fast.

For myself, I find that 1.25 and 1.50 ohm dual coils cartos work best on 3.4 - 3.7 batts. It is a good vape and with the way I now fill the cartos it is very consistant and burns very nicely.

I have come to find that if I use a syringe and inject 1 ml of juice directly into the filler and then fill the tank it seems to be just enough. With this method I do not get any gurgling, dreaded juice mouth or leaking at the bottom. I now use this syringe method everytime and for me it is nearly foolproof.

Filled and soaked properly, I get great results using a low resistance dual coil cartomizer with a 3.5 mil tank on a 3.4v Ego battery. I do have sort of like a break in period. It's like an hour until I really get the full flavor with lots of vapor consistently.

But after that it's great and completely consistent fill after fill. Going on week 4 with the same carto and I know I can expect a great vape everytime I reach for it.

It's the one setup I don't fiddle with. I keep it full of my high nic tobacco flavor to keep the stinkie monster away.

Dual coil carts have a base connector problem. Try to pick it out a bit so its always make connection with batts connector.

I have also found this to be true. I use a dental pick to move the base connection down further towards the batt connection. It doesn't happen often however this is one of the things I try.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think my problem was a combination of the above- too much juice, not filled properly. I took the carto and did the "thermometer" shake. After getting juice all over my ceiling and walls (why I didn't think to hold a paper towel on the end is beyond me) I was able to get the liquid to settle down in the carto and I am getting much better pulls, no gargling sound, no liquid in my mouth. Thank you everyone for your help.
