Kind of ticked off... Smoktech RSST fail...

So I got a Smoktech RSST as my first rba. I have had an igo-w and an octopus rda for a while and love both of them having had zero issues other then a small air hole which was an easy fix.

So I get the RSST thinking I'd do ok with it and so far the thing is just complete junk.

I oxidized the wicks correctly (even went out and bought a mini torch to do so,) and set the RSST up with 400 mesh ss wick oxidized and 3/4 wraps of 32 gauge kanthal wire which came out to 1.8 ohms. First set up looked good I was proud of my coil it was burning perfect from both positive and negative terminals then slowly all the way through the coil after a couple of pulses. I put some new Mt Baker Vapor e-juice that has been steeping for about 4 days in the tank and saturated the wick. Did a couple of burns to make sure everything was going smoothly.

I got all excited to take my first draw and THE TASTE WAS AWFUL. A ton of vapor but no flavor at all. I thought "hmm alright I do remember reading that it takes a tank or two for the flavor to really start to come out." but no. none. It was awful. Then I noticed that my tank started to crack. First it was one spot, then two, then the third was about halfway up the tank from the bottom to the top.

After about 3 tanks I said screw this and took it apart to clean it and have another go with a different flavor. Once I took the top tank piece off the tank like SPLIT IN HALF! Awful flavor, tank is trashed, and now I'm stuck with it.

So given that, is there any way to repair the tank?

I don't want to give this up yet. What I don't understand is how I've been doing so well with the RDA's but once I got this RSST it turned into a nightmare.

Ok so I got a replacement tank from them. I also ordered the AGA t2+ with the glass tank so no more cracking.

Any tips on getting better flavor? I also got some 28 gauge kanthal. I read on here that 28 gauge will get better flavor because it is a thicker wire and more surface area is getting vaporized.

Well, this is my setup. I do not have RSST but it's similar Genesis tank system.

I use dual Micro coil .8 ribbon wire with cotton wick. This make massive vapor and full flavor. When I first got Genesis, I used SS wick and I really did not like it(and lots of hot spot). I tasted metal flavor from wick flavor was bad. Then I did little research and found out a lot of people are using cotton as wick(done a lot of testing with different setup). I tried it and WOW, it's was great!! This setting is RDA with tank. I am running .4ohm so atty get very hot and can not do long drag but with 2 sec drag give me full flavor and a lot of vapor. This worked for me. Try many different setup and see what you like. That's what I did.. I hated Genesis atty at first but now I love it.
