Knock-off e-cigs vs. Teh Real Thing?

I recently ordered a Joye510 Manual Batt and Atty from what seemed to be a fairly reputable company, as mine had finally kicked the bucket (may she rest in pieces)...

My concern is this: It seems pretty obvious that the items I purchased/received are NOT actual Joye products - the quality is... well... really shoddy. And there are some significant differences between the first Joye I owned (which came in an actual "Genuine Joye" box, and the replacement bits I purchased.

So, what I'd like to know is if the website states it is Joye you're purchasing, do they have to send an actual Joye, or can they send a 'knock-off'?

I don't want to be a stinky whinger if this is the norm and all kewl, etc., etc., yada yada... on the other hand, the quality is def below what I'd come to expect from previous Joyes...

Thanks a mil in advance!

Aargh! This is the second time this has happened to me, then! (banging head on floor) Why me?! Actually, hearing that they shouldn't have sent a knock-off just confirms what I figured, but I didn't want to raise a stink without confirming it.

I am kinda hesitant to say which company, cause I actually learned about them here, and they seem to have a good rep... on the other hand, they shouldn't be sending out knock-offs advertised as the genuine thing, right? (oh, the dilemma!)

I've sent off a quick email to them:

Hi there,

I was referred to your site from e-cigarette forum dot com, and was excited to give ya'll a try. My father (deleted his name) recently ordered a Joye510 batt and atty as a gift for me, as my current Joye510 had finally died. I was really disappointed when I received my replacement parts, though - they do not appear to be genuine Joye510 components - there is a huge difference cosmetically and in the quality and workmanship between my previous Joye510 (which is definitely genuine: it came in a kit and arrived in a sealed box that stated, "Genuine Joye" on it) and the replacement parts I ordered from your store.

I am pretty frustrated with this experience - this is actually the second time a website has sent me a 'knock-off', so I am beginning to think this is a common practice - which really gives the whole e-cig business a bad name, especially at a time when we, as e-cig users, should be doing all we can to ensure that the publicity surrounding e-cigs and their use is positive.

Sincerely,
-k-

Anyway, I'll let ya'll know what/if I hear back from them!

And thanks for hopping in and letting me know what ya'll think!

I've got most of my hardware from Cignot (www.cignot.com) - all genuine Joyes - and I base my comparisons off their gear if I buy elsewhere. Ive also bought from ecigsupply and they attys are the same in every way (sometimes the inside of the attys - from both places - looks a little different, the bridge never looks the same, but I figure tahts just co welding can be messy lol, but they all have the white inner ring).
Whats the difference in your parts that makes you think they arent genuine?

If you are talking about cignot, make sure that you were actually there rather than with notcigs.com Notcigs sells SLB products rather than Joye and is very new. I have no idea what there customer service it like, but the prices seem a bit high, especially in comparison to Cignot.

BTW, I think it's a tad shady for another supplier to use such a similar name. Here's where I first saw them: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo.../77311-notcigs-com-now-open-slb-products.html

is dse510 same as joye 510? or just the generic version.

i got my products from healthcabin.net and love them, seem pretty authentic to me. had them for 7 months now no problems.

Well, the first thing that made me suspicious was the fact that the ecig I purchased seemed to be a cheaper/different material than the Joyes I've had before... just holding them up, they look, I dunno - plasticy, whereas the Joye is much more metallic (I usually get the silver ones..) They feel different, too, texture-wise. The LED is WAY different on the new one vs. the Joye - it's actually purple, as opposed to blue. The biggest difference is the inside of the atty... the coil looks just... blobbed on - it's huge, no trademark white circle, etc. You'd never think it was a Joye just looking at it. And performance-wise, it stinks. Minimal flavor even on my strongest e-juices, same goes for vapour.

I'm mostly disappointed because I didn't hear back from the company I purchased it from. I feel like I gave them a chance to 'make good' so to speak. So now, I guess I hit up my credit card company and let them deal with it (oh, and I don't suppose they'll be getting a favorable review from me, when I have the time to sit down and write one...)

Really disappointing because I found out about them here, and they've had a lot of good reviews, so I figured they were standup.

I guess this experience, coupled with my previous 'fake' intellicig experience with Innovapor (from back in November, and they still haven't replaced it, so now I'm going to have to do a chargeback on my card - they just keep stalling in really lame ways) really makes me wonder how many people get cheap knock-offs and don't even realize it, or if they do, just accept it.

I mean, I can't be the only person this has happened to? Or the only person who cares?

But thanks for checking and for the info! I can't stand it when other companies try to hone in on the success of others by sorta copying their names/web addys... that so lame!

Who is the company? IF you tried to contact them, and they did not respond in an acceptable fashion, then they are fair game as far as discussing the company on the forum. I personally would tell all about the inferior product in the reviews forum, as well as in the vendor review section, EVEN if it is a company that many here recommend. I PERSONALLY never want to order from them if they LIED to you about there product.

If you misunderstood, or made the mistake, that is your bad, but they should still communicate with you, and fix the problem.

We do absolutely care. If in fact you were wronged, and they are an approved ecf supplier getting good reviews by members, don't you agree that we need to know the name of the company so that we can do whatever we need to do? That's what forums are for.

heaven gifts 510 is all Joye too.

I've seen sites that say 'will work with/compatible with/just like Joye and then name all the rebranded Joye's - titan, dura c, yeti, etc. etc. Best way to tell is the joye attys have a lot of metal mesh around the base of the bridge. Any washer types are not joyes with the possible exception of the 'titan mega attys' (not the eGo ones). Although those may have changed now.
