You'll want to stop vaping and toss it out if it's not giving you much flavor anymore. There's a good chance the internal components might be burnt out as well. Last night I came across a thread that talked about "old style" 808 cartos literally burning out and it got me concerned about their safety. Not to alarm you but be cautious as to how you use them. Here are some general tips:

(1) Be sure to keep each carto freshly juiced by dropping juice into it frequently (every 40 puffs or so, on average). So long as it's moist, there's a lesser chance of it burning out (figuratively and literally).

(2) If you can taste even a hint of it being burnt, toss it. It's not worth inhaling burnt stuff (analogs are good for this, however).

(3) If your cartos aren't meeting your own standards of preference, try a different brand. There are now several to choose from. I just ordered some Bloog-style Jumbo Drippers that supposedly last awhile, hold plenty of juice and do not "burn" easily. I believe they are horizontal coils which decrease the likelihood of burnout since the coil's on the bottom and not all along the length of the carto itself.

(4) After filling thoroughly, be sure the center is clear and that you can see light through it. If there's no airflow, there won't be much of a hit and hence a decrease in flavor.

(5) Use a higher resistance cartomizer if you're getting burn. The WOW! V4L cartos, for instance, are low resistance and heat up quickly so be careful how hard and frequently you vape.

(6) Try not to chain vape. This may be more of a personal preference but there's some science to it. The more frequently you're hitting it, the longer the wiring is staying hot and probably burning.

(7) Let your cartos "marinate" for awhile after you fill 'em. Let the juice absorb and let gravity and fluid dynamics settle it in.

I hope this helps. Now try ripping it apart with some tweezers or a paperclip and see if there's any damage. I did that to a couple of mine last night (even one that was still hitting well) and it was literally burnt in some parts. Waiting on the JDMF's as I hear they don't burn as easily (or possibly at all) if well-moistened.

Happy vaping and be safe.

I'm newer than you, but one thing I've noticed is that if that filling is even a touch overfilled, they wick terribly and provide nearly no draw or vapor afterwards...no matter how long it's been marinating.

And more than anything else, these cartos aren't exactly a perfect scientific discovery. Some work amazingly for weeks; others are burnt out of the box. I have a box full of DOAs that I keep around, for no other reason than my weird belief that they will magically work someday down the line.

Yes, I drink - why do you ask?

I don't do "uses". I do one long use. I fill it well to start with, let it settle. Then when I am vaping with that carto, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit drier or a bit funny tasting or is running a bit too hot, I take it off the battery and add juice. Typically that is approximately when the carto is 1/3 empty to almost 1/2 empty so it usually needs 6-9 drops or so (I could probably get a bit more in but I don't like to tempt leaks at my desk - I just want to keep it damp). I have found my cartos work well the longest with thin (20% or less VG) juices that leave little or no flavoring sediment (these end up usually being light clear juices).

I alternate vaping 2 cartos, one on my KR8 and one on my 510. I can usually get 2 weeks use out the the KR8 carto using it 1/2 the time, though the second week is not as good as the first week. Been using this one 10 days (1/2 the time) and it is still running pretty nice.

Re flavoring sediment - it can clog up both atomizers and cartomizers. One member has a test for sediment - drip the juice on hot aluminum foil - after it sizzles away, if there is a bunch of "slag" left behind then that juice would do the same thing in your cartos or attys.

Re thicker juices - sometimes I vape them as-is by dripping on a manual battery and atty, and sometimes I thin them with a thin PG similar juice and use that in cartos.

In my short 4 month experience, it's kinda a crap shoot with QC on cartos .. some last a good long time, especially with the clearer liquids, others of the same make are duds very quickly .. I'll have to mention Liberty Flights, simply because when I get a bad one and report it to them, they will credit me the cost of a carto towards my next order .. so it's obvious to me that's likely a common problem ..

I'm hopeful that as the tech gets more and more perfected, cartos will evolve to near perfection if used properly ..

Last .. I find 24 hours of marination to be a good idea ..

It depends what you use; I recommend Bloog blank cartos --you can reuse them tons of times and they are horizontal which means the coil is on the bottom. Liberty Flights sells Boge cartos which IMO suck beyond belief for the 808ds--their filling is like rocks and they recommend overnight filling (cause of the rocks). Get Bloog cartos--you will be happy... you can vape them 1min after a fill, fill them easily and they last!! In fact, go to the Bloog vendor site down at the bottom of the forum and look at the posts re: their longevity. You can even buy Bloog cartos with flavors that go with your juice--like coffee/choc and reuse them. My life with the 808s really improved with these cartos...

In fact, I have a pile of 10 on my desk I've been chain vaping for 2 weeks and 50 more in boxes. I thought I'd go throught them that fast after using the crappy Boge ones which really made me happy to toss in the trash. I'm set for months!
