Yes using a drilled cartomizer on a 901 threaded passthrough. It works fine but the benefits of the KR808-D are for situations where you can't use a passthrough and wouldn't want to use a mod in my opinion. The battery life using the PCC means that isn't an issue and the taste/throat hit you get from the cartomizer mean that extra power isn't really necessary.

es that is what I was thinking, but also I think the bump to 5v might provide a better drag i.e. produce vapor quicker and allow for a good hit with a quicker drag, hopefully without degrading the flavor. I might try it but I don't want to sacrifice a battery.

I am using a home made passthrough w/ 901/kr808d cartomizers right now actually. I'm using a battery box with a home made connector and I can just pop carts on and off of it. I love it - it works great. I've only been using it since yesterday around noon when I made it. I have used the same cartomizer and have refilled it 3 times now just to see how long it might last before I burn it up at 5v :D

Oh yeah: I don't know if it is because you can control your puffs, etc. but the carts actually don't get nearly as hot - which really surprised me. I don't know if it is because of the way the batteries usually 'force' the carts to burn for so many seconds or what have you - or if I just have a screwy battery -> but seriously using the passthrough my cartomizers run MUCH cooler. On the battery they will get to the point they will nearly burrn my mouth. Now that I think about it - I'm gonna have to get out a multimeter now and see what the heck that battery is putting out! LOL

Take care,
- Hap

Thanks for the info Hap, seems you have confirmed what I was expecting, that a steady 5v would be better even w/ a cart. What is your homemade connector on the batt box?

An embarrassing concoction of a bent staple, and raw wire. :p I highly DON'T recommend it - I just happen to have done enough donking around with this kind of thing in the last 25 years to be able to come up with some reasonably stout connections this way.

Since it is working, and I like it this much... I will be making an actual mod next week that would be much better suited for this purpose. I am working on a universal adapter actually that you can just pop any atty onto and go to town. Just a bit tricky with all the different designs.

I would recommend just taking an old kr8/901 battery connector, hooking yourself up a good USB cable through a battery box or similar item with a momentary switch, mount the connector onto the box, and then vape away with your carts! :)

Lots of DIY walkthroughs on USB passthroughs in the mod forums, but I'd be happy to answer specific questions if you'd like.

Take care,
- Hap

News flash !!!

There's a radio shack dc connector that is PERFECT for doing kr808d-1 mods...

I'm toking one right now, cart--dc connector--- battery box--Momentary switch--USB cable 5v. of pure enjoyment.

The manual switch means ultimate control of the atty, so nice.

I posted a thread here with links...

Find it, it's a reality...no more deconstructing bats...
