I don't know if I'm really hard on batteries or if I've just been saddled with several crappy batteries.

I now own 8 KR808D-1 batteries. Some are genuine Kanger, most are VK branded. I have autos and manuals in regular and XL/380mA/h sizes.

I have had the batteries for time periods ranging from six weeks to less than a week. Half of them don't hold a charge for longer than a couple dozen puffs, then the LED starts blinking and it's back to the charger.

Is there a "right" way to condition these batteries for optimum performance? (Obviously one that I'm not using...) Are these batteries failure-prone? Advice?

TIA

I answered your other thread regarding conditioning so I'll tackle some of your other questions here. Are they failure prone? maybe, but not normally to the extent you're experiencing. The 3 KR8 shorties I have used over the last couple months all work as well as when I got them. Are you being careful to not get liquid into the automatic batteries? Have you tried cleaning the threading and also the charger? Maybe the problem is not the batteries but the charger, have you tried a different one?

With your luck with these batteries, one option might me to buy them from SmokeTip. They are more expensive and only come as shorties (180 mah) but they do come with a lifetime no questions asked warranty.

To echo the above:
Juice in the battery...bad
Threads may not look dirty...clean with alcohol b4 charging anyway.
Charging by USB...not as good as charging in a wall socket.
USB doesn't doesn't cycle like the wall charger does.
Charge awhile longer after the light turns green...at this point try an 8-12 HR charge.
For the auto batts:
Take some sharp draws on the threaded end of the battery.
Blow into the lighted end the same.

My KR8s have been in daily use for months & are still working fine.

Hope these suggestions help.

Clean the threads of both the battery & charger with a alcohol dripped q-tip.
Blow several times into both the front & back of the battery, then charge for 8 hours no matter the charger light color.
That is what Smoke Tip says to do & I found it to be right on mine as I had a trouble holding a charge & this worked.
Also it takes me 2 shorties for 1 Smoke Tip cartomizer or about 8 to 10 hours.
This may help & if it doesn't then replace the charger as it seems you have replaced the batteries several times.
If nothing else send them to me as I can always use another battery.LOL

I've had all sorts of battery problems, as of late. When I started around 10-09, batteries worked real well right from the start. I even have an "oldie" from then, doesn't hold a charge long, but it's a good vape and works every time. The newer "improved" stuff is getting on my nerves. I've noticed the same funky charging problems and they don't last but about an hour or two. I keep getting them replaced and after a few duds, I'll get a good one.
