So after 2 days of non stop research my head is throbbing and I cant seem to make up my mind! The 2 biggest factors that make me lean toward the KR808D-1 is size and affordability. However I've read so many good things about the Joye and the color/led options are very cool. Im looking for something that mimics a real cig quite well. Right now I am using a disposable cigalectric I purchased from 7-11. A couple days using it and Im sold! However the cartridges are quite expensive for that brand and the starter kit is $60 with only one battery. So I've been hunting for a similar alternative. Any advice would be great! Thank you :)

For 808, I've used NHaler, vapor4life, vaporsetc, all with good results. They all also have coupon codes, saveinnj, vapezone, smilin, and vapor4life frequently runs higher % off sales.

Personal preference in the 808 is the XL or Mega sized batteries -- with cartomizer they're about the length of a More or other long cigarette. Otherwise the standard batteries are about like a 100 with carto.

The standard 510 battery is pretty small. Upside is that it's small. Downside is that it's small -- relatively short operating time between recharges. If you're only an occaisional smoker, fine. If you're more like pack a day in the 510 family the best bet right now is the Riva 510, a big battery version. It's not cig-like in form factor, but good run time between recharges. For simplicity I still like using a cartomizer on my Riva, the boge 2.0 ohm 510 cartos are my personal favorite, good warmth and vapor.

liberty-flights has a good Riva 510 sale, $30 for a starter kit with 2 750 mAh batteries, charger, initial liquid and atomizers. They also have Boge 2 ohm cartos in stock I believe. (the $30 is after the 20% discount code listed on their site)

Good luck!

I too started with a 7-11 kit...though mine was only $20 for one batt, a charger, and two cartos. It was the NJOY NPro. Like you, it was enough to sell me on vaping.

After much research, I ended up settling on the 808. In my opinion, it was a great choice. Works well, cig-sized, good price. If you're looking for lots of color options, try vapor4life.com I never personally purchased anything from them, but they get good reviews, and they have quite a selection of 808 options. I'd definitely recommend getting two batteries and a PCC (a case that holds a charge of its own so that it can charge your batteries on the go). 2 batts, a PCC, and a few cartos, and you will be good all day.

That being said, if you are not set on getting a PV that is sized like a cigarette, your options are greatly expanded. Egos/Rivas and Hello 016s (as well as others) offer much greater battery life than an 808. I would get an average of about 4 hours of decent vaping out of my 808s. My H16 lasts me easily 3x that. Bigger battery=less charging.

But, if you want something similar to a cigarette, then I definitely recommend the 808. I've moved on to the H16 and a Super-T Precise, but for those looking for something cig-sized, the 808 is a great option.

Welcome Ruth.

Both are good starter kits for new vapers to start with, and personally, I started off with a Joye 510. I don't have an 808 to compare it to, but for me the 510 is a great buy. Should you want to elongate the battery life, you always have the option of buying eGo batteries since the atty threading is the same for the eGo and 510. To my knowledge, both options have a minor issue with anywhere between 3 - 4 hours of moderate to constant vaping, then again, maybe someone with an 808 might actually be able to clarify that, but the standard 510 battery for sure will give you that range of battery life until you need to charge it again.

For any model you decide to choose, make sure you also have backup batteries, atties, and extra juice.

I second the 808. The battery life is much better and the batteries will hold up better for you. Unless I'm mistaken, the 808's start out at 3.7volts, too. Very nice vapor production and flavor right out of the gate. Vapor4Life also has a selection of beautiful colors to choose from. It almost makes me wish I had one!

The shorty KR8 battery is about the length and battery life of a 510 - i.e fairly short (150 or 180mah)
I believe the standard KR8 battery is 280mah, the XL is 380mah

The KR8 is a dedicated cartomizer unit. A cartomizer can be refilled I've heard maybe 4-13 times before it dies but if you get them too hot the stuffing can singe and make their life shorter due to burnt taste rather than dying. There are different kinds of cartos, some lower resistance and hotter (vapor and on your lips) and those are probably more prone to singing the stuffing. I prefer the 3.x ohm resistance ones like V4L Coolcarts and I think the Premium ones at LiteCigUsa.net are similar. Some others prefer the hotter ones.

If you want to add flexibility to the KR8 you can add a DSE901 atty and carts (or drip tip if you have a manual battery). This gives (for me) a softer smoother vape than the cartos. In the evening I set up my KR8 that way with a sweet pleasing flavor and have tobacco ejuice in my other PV. By using an adapter you could add a dfferent atty like a 510 to the KR8 battery. And if you find you have a need for even longer battery life, the Elegant Easy is like a KR8-based Ego or Riva (fat battery w/ flared cowl, different charger). One rebrander does a nice job and offers a lot of nice colors at only a slightly higher price - Vapor4Life.com, or you could buy your kit as plain KR808D-1 at LiteCigUSA.net or elsewhere.

510 is also flexible. It starts out as a cartridge unit. And if you get one I recommend getting a Joye brand because there are some less-good clones around. It's also a flexible unit - you can get a variety of blank cartomizers for it if you prefer cartomizers (thogh I don't know where you can get good prefilled ones - perhaps someone else does). Its standard battery's charge life is short as I mentioned above. There are also longer batteries available and the cowled fat-battery setup of Ego or the Riva 510.

Sometimes it's hit or miss guessing what you will like. At least you are in the right ballpark with these popular base models.

Thank you all so much for your valuable opinions! Im such a newbie at this whole thing... lol

I decided to go with the 510 from cignot. The value seems to be the best I've found. Another plus was the kit came with 5 carts and 2 5ml bottles of juice. Should last me a while seeing as Im only a 1/2 pack a day smoker. The customization of the body/led and manual vs auto was also a big determining factor. The 808 was a bit pricier for manual and I didnt see any option to do one of each. Hopefully I made a good choice with this one! We shall see. Vapor4Life looks like they have some awesome flavors though. Not sure the ones I got with the 510 will be near as good. Very mixed reviews there.
