KRAKEN v1.1 or Kayfun Lite Plus?

tomorrow is vapecon 2014 here in manila and i'm looking on purchasing either the Kraken or kayfun Lite Plus, but i'm having a hard time to choose between the two.

If you were in my position, which one will you choose and why? pros and cons? thanks so much! vape on!

by the way, im planning to build it with cotton!

Kraken (like any genesis) can be set up to throw some serious clouds and lots of flavor. Beautiful design does not hurt either.
Much harder to set up though.
Also can be prone to leaking if left tilted.

KFL+ will produce great flavor but not a cloud machine by any means.
Very easy to set up with minimal to no leaking. Very good tank to take out with you for all day use.
A little large, but not unreasonably so.
Draw is a little tight, even with the AFC opened up (I actually removed the screw altogether and still found it a lil tight.

If forced to pick one (which I did recently) I would go with a Kayfun all day. The ability to just toss my mod in my pocket and forget about is more important to me than producing more vapor. Im not intimidated by the extra finagling of a genesis style at all but I really just don't want to reach into a pants pocket filled with juice.

I shoulf mention now that I have (and love) a couple kayfuns I will probably pick up a Kraken next but it will probably be a leave at home atty along with my drippers.

oh so thats the case with kraken, you can't just leave it inside your pocket or bag because it may leak! too bad, because i really like its design!

which one can hold more juice? the kraken or the kayfun? also which is more taller? im planning to put it on a standard provari.

Well you COULD pocket one, but if it tilts for too long or you sit down and forget about it you could be in for leak city.

Kraken holds 2.5mil
KF is about 4.5 assuming you use the fill port, top filling is considerably less.

Kayfun is taller.
Should look fine on a provari, may need a transition ring to look flush.

If you are concerned about size and height for the KF you can purchase a nano kit which will drop it closer to the size of a vivi nova.

Another thing to note between the two which I didnt mention initially is that if you plan on using the clear tank portion of the KF then you must be mindful of your juice selection as it is plastic not glass. Of course you could simply use the stainless center tank piece, but I feel uncomfortable not being able to see my juice level.

The Kraken on the other hand is glass so no issue there.

There are quartz aftermarket tanks for the KF but they are not cheap and I cant speak for how well they work.

and lastly, shame on you for being Pinoy and using a provari in the PI! If I were back in Manila (I am a dual citizen) I would be hunting down locally made mechs or maybe even a GI2!

hahaha! so your half pinoy, that's good know! well I already tried using a mech mod & I feel uncomfortable because the quality of the vape is not consistent because of batt life compared to vv which I can get consistent quality of vape. but if I'll be given a chance to own a mech pinoy mod, I'll choose nzonic black v5, that thing is sweet & sexy!

On top of the Provari I would go with the KFL+. The Kraken with it's dual coil design is really designed around low ohm vaping. You would need to wrap two identical 2.6ohm coils to set up the Kraken, a pretty tough build in my book.

The only gennie I have that leaks is a TD dual built as a dual. My Pulse built as a single with a plug in the second hole doesn't leak.
When I first started building gennies if I laid one down over night it might be a little wet inside but that problem has gone away.

I've seen Kraken clones advertised as having a plug. I've seen them without. I don't know what the original has (other than a hefty price tag). I've turned down 2 dual coil gennies at the local shop (1 is a Kraken) because for the inflated price tag they don't have a plug and I don't think I should have to modify something paying a premium price.

I've had no interest in KF's because of the bottom fill, although I've seen some with a side fill that could interest me at least in giving them a try.

Bottom line I prefer gennies but in either case I'd have to see the particular item or would have to get it at a very good price.

Get a Kayfun 3.1 I have a kraken clone and it's my nicest genny and is great for massive vapor production but I just haven't been able to reproduce the flavor I can get from a kayfun with a cotton wick.

I only say the 3.1 over the light plus because the draw isn't nearly as tight. Since I've had my 3.1 I've retired my kfl+ but I've recently started trying to drill out the airflow hole. I've broken many bits but I'm almost there

I don't have a Kraken, but have a KFL+ and a genny style atty (Pyrex RSST). The genny produces great flavor and with a drilled out airhole, it is much more open that the KFL+. I was also totally surprised at how crisp the juice tastes with SS mesh.

With that said, because of the leaking problems if it tilts, when I'm on the go, the KFL gets carried and the genny waits at home when I'm in front of my desk.

have you seen the philippine made rta, the Ruzgar? I think it's like a kfl+, price is about $109 & the kfl+ here is about $127. it's using a quartz tank (if I remember it correctly) instead of a plastic type.

Interesting idea.
Nice to see more KF types with glass tanks.
I cant help but think if and when we see a new gen of KFs from Svoemesto they will have a glass tank.

Kayfun. Gennies are more finicky and less versatile. I would go with a Russian for a Kayfun though, as they have better air-inlets: oblong and curved, preventing whistling and least draw interference. If you are a huge fan of gennies, go with the Kraken though. Real apples to oranges sorta question, to be honest. Cotton is not the easiest in a gennie though.

If you are determined to go cotton, get a Russian.

Mesh for durability, fiber wicks, fiber drippers.

Kayfun is pretty much a Kayfun even when you mess around with different wicks.

What exactly is less versatile about a genny? You can easily modify any of them to suit any personal preference in existence.

Calling them finicky is just another way to say "I'm not very good at setting one up", they are as consistent as the person building them.
