Noob here. I tried my first e-cig last week and was really surprised how much I like it! A friend gave me a Blu Cig disposable sample to try and I haven't smoked (or bought) a regular cigarette since Friday. And it's a holiday weekend, so that's saying something!

I've been a moderate smoker for 30+ years, and I just wish I would have tried them earlier. The sample Blu lasted me from Thursday though Saturday, so I stopped at a local smoke shop and the guy there suggested I try Eonsmoke and he sold me a little economy kit to try.

So far, I think I liked the flavor of the Blu disposable better -- it had a hint of toasted coffee flavor in it (I had the regular tobacco flavor) and the Eonsmoke tastes weirdly sweeter but has a funny petroleum aftertaste. I am vaping the "President" flavor which was suggested since I smoked ultra light cigarettes before. I haven't tried any fruit flavors or anything yet.

I will have many questions regarding batteries and battery compatibility, like will my little Eonsmoke battery work with other company's cartridges? Can I screw a Blu cartridge on it? I've been poking around here and other sites and its overwhelming how many brands and types there are!

As far as I know very few e-cig company that sells look-a-like cigarette has adaptors for you to buy to use other Ecig brand, if you really want to explore a whole new world of flavors then you got to invest on a Ego type batteries and Vivi or carto tanks. By the way congratulation on your week of no stink stick :toast:

Welcome and congrats on switching!

I agree with Eric1217 in that a good general suggestion for those who are starting is a ego type battery. They have a "510" connection and use a lot of different types of attachments. This will give you the ability to try different things like cartomizers, atomizers, tanks, etc. Some are more involved than others but just ask questions here for answers. This will also mean a whole world of juice flavors will also be at your fingertips.

Again welcome.

Things can be a little (Ok...a LOT) overwhelming at first, but just take your time, and read read read. All of the information you'll be looking for can be found right here. I would highly suggest that you start out by reading up on and asking questions about any type of *basic* eGo setup, if you want a better vaping experience, and it will save you a LOT of money as opposed to using cigalikes (e-cigs that look like real cigarettes). Then, just take it from there and start asking even more questions. It can be overwhelming, like I said. Just take your time...:2cool:

Oh, and welcome!

Looks like that is an 808, basically the battery is a male connector, where the 510 like on an ego is female. 510 is the vhs to the 808s betamax (or blu ray to hd dvd for the whipper snappers). You can refill the cartos by buying some juice, taking the cap off with a paper clip and dripping the juice in avoiding the central tube. You can also by an adapter online to use 510 style cartomizers and the like.

But, the best bet is to pickup an ego style batter (or 2), even the smaller ones have 3x the battery life as the cigalike, they give you more vapor, and are basically universal in what you can put on them. If you go that route, then lots of people start off with clearomizers which let you just drip liquid into a clear tube to refil and will last and taste better than just refilling cartos (buying refill cartridges cartomizers will cost you a ton in the long run) or you can go to tanks like the vivinova, carto tank, etc. I wish I jumped right to the itaste mvp but the cigalike --> ego --> mod progression might be the easiest.

Search around on here and learn, it'll save you some cash in the long run.

and, like someone else said, there are lots of good vape shops in socal, you can go poke around them, some of the people are quite knowledble at them and will let you test out different batteries and juices (and different shops have different delivery systems set up for trying the juices, though mostly some form of carto tank)

Welcome and congrats on your start. There are a number of fun stores in LA for you to try stuff out (hardware and liquid) and learn more on your vaping journey.

Vaping Ape LA -- Hollywood
The Vapor-Mart -- West Hollywood
The Vapor Spot -- Westwood
Viper Vapor -- Koreatown

THANK you! Gads, I had no idea there was such a community. Where were you people three years ago when I tried to quit smoking and nearly killed my co-workers...

Do you know of any places near the Valley?

It's like a whole sub culture really. There are vape bashes, vape meet ups, vape television shows and you tube has hundreds of tutorials.

Here's something you need to know. Adapters are available pretty cheaply from a variety of vendors. Almost anything (in the newb realm at least) can be converted to work with your batteries with the right adapter.

.... umm, huh? Woah, that's a LOT more complicated than I thought. I was just looking for a decent battery that doesn't burn out too fast and kinda looks like a regular cigarette with screw-in cartridges. Maybe in the future I will try the liquids and come up with my own custom blend of tobacco/coffee or something, but in the meantime, I'm not looking to invest a whole lot of start-up money or start a chemistry lab in my kitchen.

Welcome to ECF. I am up the hill from you, and found everything I need online. I have never bothered to drive down to the valley to pay high prices at the B & M's. :)

Your Blu cartridges have 510 connections. You can screw those onto any 510 threaded thing. DO NOT USE the BLU CHARGER for any other thing though, they are "reverse" of others. So, if you buy an eGo you will need a new charger, but that charger will work on other eGo's. I tossed my Blu charger out when I was done with the Blu's so I wouldn't fry anything accidentally. Those Blu's only lasted me a short time, so the eGo was a big improvement.

And if you don't suck the Blu cartridge dry, to where it is burnt, you can add juice to it. Once it is burnt, there is no saving it. That was how I started this journey too, trying to figure out how to make the Blu cartridges last longer. There is a lot better stuff out there, but it all gets pretty confusing at first.

I hope you find something that works to keep you off cigarettes!

Think of it this way. A pack of smokes lasted me one day at about $5.50. If you spend $35 on a decent set up, that is one week's worth of cigarettes and it will last you months, and even if you weren't a PAD smoker, it will still save you money over the long haul! The return on the investment is more than money though, you will feel all the gunk come out of your lungs and will feel better in a few weeks.

Update... Bought my last pack of traditional cigarettes on Wednesday May 22. Smoked the last one Friday, May 24th, the day after I tried my first Blu disposable. Bought Eonsmoke mini kit Saturday the 25th and I've only gone through 2 cartridges so far.

I have no desire whatsoever to smoke a "regular" cigarette at all. I think I've successfully (and very surprisingly easily) made a full transition to vapor. Hooray!!
