Well, it seems to send a package WEST from SC it has to go SOUTH to FL then NORTH to IN and then EAST to KY.

That's nothing. You should see the route mail going to the military FPOs in Japan take. Everything sent from the States (exception seems to be Hawaii) goes thru Chicago. Package starts in Cali, hit San Fran, then Chicago before heading west again to get here. Recently did a slowtech order that went from China and spent a few days in LA before hitting Chicago and them back to the Far East. And they wonder why USPS is losing money.
