Hi,

My issue is I cannot taste any discernible flavours from my ecig. I either do not like it and am unable to vape it or it is just ok and I can vape it. I would love to be able to say 'oh I can really taste the flavour of oranges in my citrus mix' but it just doesn't happen for me. I do know that I can vape the Liqua fruit flavours that I get from Fastech. Again, they are just ok. I want to be able to say 'oo I love that flavour, it tastes just like the real thing' but I cant make out the different flavours. I hope ive made my problem clear.

I had my last analogue 2 years and 4 months ago and have always used ego style setups.

I currently use a tank setup with a foam filled flanged 1.5 ohm cartomizer, screwed onto ego style 900 battery. I use fruit flavours by Liqua at 18mg from Fastech. This is providing the nicotine hit at the back of my throat but I want the flavour also.

Any one had this problem before and any recommendations how to resolve it?

Yours hopefully, Shaun

Could easily be "vapor's tongue". Which nobody is clear as to why it happens and it seems something you just put up with until it passes. I had it. Hated it. But it passed and never happened again. I have no idea.

You'll get loads of suggestions of things to try and, well, take a few stabs at it, something might work. But the best suggestion I got was to save your favorite flavors for later. Vape something you may not have cared for while you can't taste it. :)

And, yeah, it's a really common thing. Just nobody is sure why...

Thats where this world is wrong. A mechanical mod is an analog device. Keep up with reality.

Erm... "reality" notwithstanding, "analogs" is used in the vape community to mean tobacco cigarettes. So you'll be repeatedly misunderstood using it to mean any vapor device...

Nothing wrong with LIQUA flavors. I like the Berry Mix and the Citrus Mix together. Mints is really strong, Tiramisu is an awesome coffee vape, and the CHocolate and Vanilla are good to mix with other things, too. I agree about the VILE Grape, but I "saved" it by mixing in Watermelon flavor and Koolada flavoring...Made my own version of "Thug Juice."

BTW, FT doesn't sell LIQUA anymore...

I recommend Fuzion Vapor for a really strong taste.

Have you tried DIY?? That way you can add more flavor to suit your own taste...

Like many others, I have tried all the "cures" for vape tongue, but nothing helps and I've had it for months! I have good oral hygiene, drink plenty of water and switch up my flavors. I can only taste new flavors in brand new tanks for about 3-4 hits and then it goes dead. If someone else takes a hit off of my set up, they say it's just fine. If I take a hit off of someone elses, it is just fine, but I can't go around vapeing other peoples stuff all of the time. I'm just really tired of such muted taste. The only thing I haven't tried is not vaping at all for a day or two. It would be difficult but that's about the only thing I can think of to try now. Wish me luck. If it works, I'll let you know.

Have you tried inhaling the coffee grinds aroma? I had vapors tongue for about 2 1/2 weeks then thank God it went away!! Everything was so muted I might as well been vaping steam. At those times I'd use a cinnamon or peppermint and I could sort of taste those. But basically it didn't matter what I vaped. Then I tried inhaling the coffee grounds aroma over and over through out the day and it really worked. Chocolate makers and wine tasters use this method as well to reset their tastes. You might try it.

Reality Check Analog: A tobacco cigarette, where the electronic cigarette is “digital”.
Personal Vaporizer (PV): Personal Vaporizer is another term for electronic cigarette.
Mod: A custom-built PV device.

Notice I stated "mechanical mod"

All I'm saying is that a mechanical mod is an analog device.

I just choose to use correct terminology regardless of a "community" that incorrect or skewed views of whats real is socially acceptable.

Tape players are analog, record players are analog. Cars used to be, a computer is not, a cigarette is and a mechanical mod is analog.

A digital VV device is not. If that is your preference thats awesome, but you can not deny that a mechanical mod is not an analog device.

So when someone says "analogs" that means my mechanical as well.

It's not about "social acceptability" or anything like that. It's about the way language works. The connection of words to meanings is, fundamentally, arbitrary. And, for better or worse, a speech community is always right. Resisting that is to insist on being repeatedly misunderstood.

Shrug?

I had a problem with drinking coffee & vaping ..I cut down from 2 pots of coffee a day to barely one cup now..had the headaches, taste buds went wacky, felt like something was missing in vaping cause couldn't get the satisfaction ..had bad reactions to things..felt depression, body aches....some said too much nic & some said not enough & some said it was PG then VG ...look up caffeine withdraws ..I was getting enough nicotine sometimes too much to take the place of the caffeine.. Looking back I always wanted some water or Gatorade.. But till this day coffee taste like crap after a 45 years..I take caffeine pills in the mornings to gave me that relaxing feeling I use to get all those years..made my ice tea stronger..slowly cutting back on caffeine

I didn't read the entire thread (sorry) since my experience will be different from most since I quit smoking 14 years ago and there's no question that my taste buds had already adjusted when I started vaping a few months ago. Since you haven't smoked in 2+ years this might also help you.

My first setup was an eGo Twist and a Mini Protank 2. When I first tried vaping it was great. I was sold. Everything I loved about smoking (PLUS flavors!) and nothing I didn't. I bought some great juice when I started, like Five Pawns.

Fast forward a week and I. Am. Not. Happy. :( I can't taste anything anymore. Nothing tastes good. Everything tastes the same or tastes flat. This sucks. That went on for a couple of weeks, with me miserably chasing that flavor dragon trying to get it back.

I stepped up to a Provari and a dripper. HOLY COW. What a difference! I could taste EVERYTHING. Stuff that was just okay when I vaped it before was suddenly amazing. Instead of Gambit tasting faintly apple-like I could taste the apple, the vanilla ice cream, and even the pie crust on the exhale. I still have trouble with clearomizers and some tanks. I sample stuff at vape shops still, but I usually ask if I can drip it. I just can't taste anything in carto tanks or things like Protanks. Eventually with the Provaris I settled on my favorite toppers (the Dripper Pro if I want to drip and Sophia if I want a tank; I recently acquired some mechanical mods and use a Kraken and a Brass Monkey RDA).

Since I upgraded my gear, I have never had the problem where I couldn't taste anything anymore, and that was months ago. I can vape the same juice for days, or rotate between several and all taste awesome. But I still can't taste well with clearos.

So I'm going to suggest looking into upgrading your gear; look at it as an investment. Granted, you will might to learn how to rebuild coils but it's not that hard (I promise). Or if you really don't want to rebuild, you can probably find a vape shop near you that will do it for you. But for me, the gear made EVERY bit of difference. Yes, it will cost you some money - but I bet it solves your problem.

Also, I highly recommend checking out Craft Vapery (I am not affiliated with them, just a customer). They are a curated subscription service that sends really high quality juice to you every month based on what you like and dislike. They are a fun way to check out new juices and they work hard to make their customers happy. They are MUCH MUCH better than anything you'll buy from Fasttech, all very high quality brands. There's a thread about them here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ry-curated-personalized-e-liquid-service.html

Good luck, I really remember how frustrating it was to not be able to enjoy vaping. :)

I completely agree with you. Personally I choose to be in a literal community. It only seems logical to be understood by everyone that follows proper nomenclature rather than being identified by one that doesnt.

Pertinent to this topic, the immediate community I am a part of is comprised of mechanical users. None of the mechanical users I hang out with calls cigarettes analogs. Why? Because we use analog devices. And cigarettes are just referred to as cigarretes.

When hanging with digital users the term analog fits perfectly.

I get it, can we please get back to the topic of this thread now?

Lmao, I suppose if one wanted to pick nits a cig would be a bio-analog device while a mechanical mod would be a mechanical-analog or maybe mechalog for short. Of course as mkbilbo stated on language logic and the application thereof, if you go around talking about mechalogs, people are going to be looking for Godzilla or kids might start trying to find a tranfomer to crush it. On a personal note, I tend to go with the old tried and true saying, "when in Rome, do as Romans do".

I have a hard time keeping flavors in my DIY e juices too. I have been experimenting different ways. I found that Nicotine w/vg is real overwhelming. Doesn't let any flavors come through no matter what I do. Nicotine w/pg is better. When I use it I don't put any extra pg in my mix since it already has pg. I do the rest with vg. I like the thick vape better than throat hit. Now, I don't use any nicotine. Just flavors, pg and vg. This is the best. Buying flavors is a catchy thing too. Some vendors flavors have no taste. So far, I like the flavors from "Bottleg/exotic vapes". Some flavors have water in them. Those are hard to get to vape at all. I've been vaping for 8 month's so I'm still kind of a newbie making ejuice.

I have the same problem at times. Especially with certain juices. For me, I need a juice with some cinnamon in it. I can always taste that! Cinnabon, cinnamon rolls, and some of the "cobblers" that have cinnamon - like Deej's peach cobbler. I find that I get vapors tongue with fruit/cream flavors, like Zombie Apocalypse (Alice in Vapeland) and Mother's Milk (Suicide Bunny). I really enjoy Custard Spice and Necktar from Neckbeard. No vapor's tongue with those!
