Ladies :) Birth Control and Nic

I have been told by many docs in my years that none of them will prescribe Birth Control Pills after age 35 when you are a smoker due to increased issues with blood clots. Well I'm about to turn 34 this month and it got me to thinking even though I have been vaping for about a year and a half - I still use 36mg - is it the nicotine that causes this risk or something else? I don't wanna give up the pill
