I am a blanket maker, along with slippers and occasional trinkets.. Here are my latest blankets/afghan.. Some take months some take just a few weeks depending on the size.

these were done by crochet, I gave up trying knitting with the needles I always end up almost poking my eyes out :glare: or with a whole bunch of holes from missing stitches .. lol

The top 2 pics are your every day granny squares and the bottom 2 are 2 different types of basket stitche.

I am currently working on a queen size Camo coloured one with a waffle stitch.

I wish I knew how to do this stuff. I adore it!

OHHHH, and we are happy to teach! Knitters love company (I'm assuming crocheters and most crafters are the same I just don't know a good site). Check this site out for knitting: Learn How to Knit | KnittingHelp.com.

I really recommend finding a cool knit / crochet or yarn shop they are your best source of assistance getting started!

I learned the VERY basics of knitting and crocheting from a book when I was younger. Mom couldn't teach me because I'm left-handed and she's right (she tried). All my attempts were crooked and hole-y, but it was fun :). I get the bug to learn how to knit every time I read one of Debbie MaComber's (sp?) knitting/yarn store books, but it leaves when I realize I can't do it. Mom's made some larger afghans and one for my cat and some squares, but doesn't do it much anymore. We have TONS of yarn, though.

Okay you can knit left handed, I do! I even made a baby sweater. However, I find crochet to be much easier and I am faster at it than knitting. I also just started to learn tunisian - you use a long hook and the stitches look like knit stitches. It is very cool and so super easy. No left or right handed method.

I have more yarn than any one person should have  I generally crochet hats, I love to make them as they are easy in the round and very fun to make. I once thought about opening a shop on one of those online sites, but have never gotten around to it.

There is one woman on you tube that does left hand specific crochet - if you'd like I'll find a link for her. She has a lot of videos and you can choose if you want the left or the right. I love it because I can learn new stitches and can start and stop the video as I go along.

Ambeck, I'm left handed too, and my right-handed mother taught me how to knit. Maybe I knit right handed, I never thought about it, LOL. But sometimes being left handed really is a pain!

Watching Youtube seems like it could work for learning, but I think in person has got to be better. I loved the time I spent with my mom when she was teaching me, and then when my grandmother moved in with us I spent hours knitting with her as we watched soap operas together. Precious memories :)

I could never wrap my head around the waffle stitch, mostly because when I read how to do it, its from a right handed book, I tried it a few time with cotton to make wash cloths and I gave up. I love the feel of yarn and I love the look of a great knit, but I have tried numerous methods of knitting, and they all involve the use of the right hand!!! LOL The only thing my right hand is good for is holding the needle, I hold everything with my left hand and throw with my left hand. I've tried continental, but there again, you have to hold the yarn with your right hand.
