What a mess.

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2014-06-30/lady-gagas-deal-to-promote-blu-ecigs-is-a-public-health-nightmare#r=rss

But why is the Journalist spinning it this way? As though the intent is to market e-ecigs to children? Granted, I realize that Lady Gaga some younger fans, but she also has adults fans .. like me. This is irresponsible, agenda driven journalism, which is not journalism at all. *sigh*

You first have to look at the reasoning....Lorillard is a tobacco company which bought Blu E cigs. The intent is to capture the loss of advertising back in the 70's via E cigs. The intent will be to get the youth on E cigs knowing a portion of them will opt for real tobacco thus boosting its share in the tobacco market side. It is a win win for Lorillard, you use the Blu E cig or the tobacco brands they sell. They will bank on the name Lorillard to shuffle those not happy with the Blu to the tobacco side. Doing this will avoid any direct advertising of tobacco and yet keep the 2 entities separate legally and obtain "eyes and ears" to the tobacco company.

A brilliant marketing ploy! Now OFC I am only speculating this is the intent but what other reason to do it? They already are the leaders in E cig ads running, very little competition for them yet they bring in Lady Gag me and others to help promote to a specific demographic.....young smokers. They want to sell you an e cig or a pack of Newport, Old Gold and /or Kent among others....BTW they are way behind in sales compared to other leading tobacco companies, what a way to narrow the gap!

Brilliant!!! ....and irresponsible....but since when did a tobacco company ever care about health...... or the youth!

There is now a little "blurb" at the top of the article :

(After this story was published, a Blu eCigs spokeswoman e-mailed to clarify that the company’s executive provided incorrect information to The Telegraph. "Jacob Fuller with blu UK misspoke. He did not provide accurate information, and blu eCigs does not have any relationship or associations with Lady Gaga," the spokeswoman said in an e-mail.)

“Any initiation of any nicotine-containing product is not good for public health,” Mitch Zeller, director of the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products,

Zeller has proven he is as ANTZ minded as they come.
There are no links between Nicotine use and Public health issues

Now caffeine................................. Tough my coffee and it's on! :glare:

Think about it. Why allow you to order your own e-liquid at 18mg when they can sell you crappy cartridges(most hold 6-10 drops) in 6mg for 10 times the price?

I do agree, fire the Actors, Ban Tobacco companies from Monopolizing a market and Stop all Advertizing.
We can handle it from there.
Oh, I just checked and every bottle I have received in the past year - supplier independent - was child resistant. What was the child safety issue?

Left them a comment...it's important to voice your displeasure when such tripe is dispelled.

p.s. the comment areas are not nearly restrictive as ECF...you can let loose and tell 'em what your really think. I like our moderators and think we're lucky to have them, but sometimes you just need to let loose a primal scream....

Here's An Incredible Headline

That has nothing to really do with the article we are writing. Instead, we are just going to bash smoking/vaping, and hopefully have our readers look as shamefully at vape manufacturers as they do at big tobacco companies. Thanks for driving traffic to our website!

Next story: Obama to Nuke Israel (but not really)

There's tons of shots with Lady Gaga vaping without being a spokesperson, just like a lot of others. How old is she now? I think 9:1 of the celebrities vaping are over the age of 30. I wouldn't say that's "aimed at kids".

If anything, this is showing how much of a bubble they live in. NASCAR and concerts are full of baby boomers. Kids won't leave the internet or their games.

Google tells me Lady Gaga is 28.

Jennie McCarthy is 41. Another one they attacked for being "cool" is 38. My point is these are not "teen models" but adults. "Kids" 15-17 yrs old generally think that age 30 is "over the hill". It seems ANTZ is making anyone under the age of 50 to be a "kid". They are living in a dreamland. Most the people at race car tracks and concerts are not "kids" (really "teens" and mayve that's another correction that needs to be made here). I wouldn't even worry about tv advertising since the average viewer is over the age of 50 anymore.

For any cessation product to be successful it has to be accepptable to people still smoking, i.e. "cool" otherwise it's a failure because no one is using it. They keep stripping away the "cool" factor and they will have products no one wants. They only way to succeed then is to have a monopoly with no other choice and I think they'll discover that people still have a choice, in this case it'd be to continue smoking.

I quite like lady Gaga. I was all prepared to hate her (get off my lawn you hooligans), but I think she actually has a very good voice. I know some 'adults' like her, but her main appeal does seem to be to kids/tweens. My daughter (10 at the time) was the one who introduced me to her music). I'm glad that they seem to be rethinking using her as a spokesperson. Still, she was a better choice than Jenny McCarthy, IMO.

Your daughter was "10 at the time". How old is she now? Time marches on rather swiftly for kids. At 28, her appeal to "teens" has moved up the age scale too. I think the older we become, the less we realize that for a teen six months is "an eternaty". For them, time moves s-l-o-w.

Let's see, marketing to "kids" (I really think that should be corrected to "teens" even in here);
