For some experts, however, e-cigarettes are a much safer option than real cigarettes, and they argue that if teens are inclined to try smoking anyway, they are better off smoking e-cigarettes.

"If a teenager is interested in smoking and keeps e-cigarettes instead of Marlboros, that's a good thing," said Igor Burstyn, an associate professor of environmental and occupational health at Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Burstyn compares smoking to teen sex. "You can't stop them from having sex. You can only give them condoms," he said. "If you accept that people will consume nicotine and smoke, which history has shown is the case, then the only question is what can they do to not make them sick?

"If it doesn't have any negative health consequences, as far as I'm concerned, let them do it," Burstyn continued. "There is no evidence that they should worry about major health consequences of e-cigarettes, either for consumers or bystanders."

Amen!!!!!

Finally, a decent article. Let's pretend for a second that the worst thing in the world is that a teen vapes an ecig. If that were the case, why then are you trying to restrict me? Is restricting me going to stop this monumental, allegedly hazardous occurance? Is restricting any adult from vaping going to stop kids from doing anything? The arguement is flawed at is core. They make my head hurt when the govt talks to us like idiots when they dont even have an understanding of what they are talking about and don't care to even learn. Vaping is something that the FDA should embrace if they were legitimately concerned with our health. If there are hazards in vaping, study, find and eliminate them. This knee jerk, ban mentality is nothing more than a bullying, control tactic that feeds their collective egos.

+1 Valhalia.
They need to cross their bridges one at a time... Some "possible" bridges won't even have to be crossed. ECigs might turn us into toads, or they very possibly might turn us into fairy tale prince and princesses. Might is a mighty imaginative word.

Exactly, I "might" try to stir up as many people as I can to watch their deceptive dumb@sses. And those people "might" actually take a couple of extra seconds to look past the soundbytes see what these talking heads are really about. And they "might" actually turn out and vote, which "might" fire some people who think that they are more qualified to micro manage everyone's lives that we are. If high ranking officials wanted this stopping it would be stopped. Might is an awesome word.
