Larger wicks equal better vapor in my rebuilt protank coils, or so it seems.

Ive been tinkering with these for a few months now and have gotten to the point of 'best yet', yet again. Im really not sure how I could make them better.
For my big protank2 im using 32ga kanthal a1, seven wraps at 2.5mm (3.2ohm), and five individual strands pulled from peaches and cream cotton yarn. I use six wraps(2.6ohm) for my mini protank and the same everything else.
They wick wonderfully, no flooding, great vapor production and great flavor:vapor:.
I have tried 28 and 30ga kanthal, not a fan. Ive also tried silica wicks and found that cotton works much better, it just doesnt last as long.
I keep the big protank on a vamo v3 and the mini on ego twist batteries, for what its worth.

Being that I started out making very small coils and worked my way up to where I am now, bigger seems to be better.
My question is, have you guys found the same thing? Is this the natural progression?

I've the opposite story - once I started wrapping coils 1.2mm in diameter with tiny cotton wicks, I've never gone back. For me, the more surface area of the coil, the better. I use 30AWG in my PT rebuilds, 11/10 wrap, about 1.9ohms.

But, of course, whatever works for you the best is the best.
I think ill try that later on tonight. Ive never gone that small with 30ga, so its worth a shot.
Im always looking to find something better.

I seem to go the opposite route most people go when it comes to wicking... I use 3mm silica, but I tie a small knot in the top and wrap my coils around the equivalent of three 3mm wicks. 3-4 wraps only 32 gauge kanthal 1.6ish ohm rating. That seems to have been my standard for the last 6 months. one coil lasts about a month. not the "clouds of vapor" I see from dual microcoil builds, but plenty vapor for me and awesome flavor.

Oh, forgot to mention, It's a U-wick with a knot in the center of the U

I might retract my prior opinion. I tried your coil and i am completely amazed. THANK YOU I found something better.
