Hey all,

I know that many of you have been having serious difficulty accessing the forum in the evenings/nighttime.

We've done some tinkering to have some of the automated tasks done later in the night, and spread out over a couple of hours.

I'm hoping that this solves the issue - but I can't guarantee it

Would those of you who have had the issue in the past, please comment in this thread if it has been resolved or if it is still plaguing us?

Many thanks, and my apologies for the distruption,

SJ

Hi Smokie. Where I live (Pacific time) it used to go down around 10:10pm for about 30 minutes. I thought they were going to move it back a couple of hours. But now it seems to go down for that 30 minutes during the peak user time..........around 6:30pm my time. I'm thinking that's not a good time. Can they pick the time that there is the least amount of traffic? Is there anyway to gauge that? Just a thought. And thanks for asking us. You'll probably be sorry you did.:D;)

I thought it was just because I was on dial-up AND even on the hi-speed here at the studio I get server busy message in the afternoons now(Eastern Time Zone).
On dial-up it has been really a pain as I enjoy the forum in the evenings but have recently just about had to give it up and try some other time or play hearts (boring) while I wait and wait and wait.

Good to know you are working on this. Thank you.

Server goes down for me in the morning around 7-8 AM, during lunchtime, during "rush hour" when most people get off work around 5-7pm and again around 10-12 at night. Btw, I'm not at my computer all day when noticing this, I use Tapatalk on my iphone, i check it obsessively throughout the day. Also, I live on the East coast if that matters at all :)

Well, what happened is we tried to move the cron jobs that crash the server with a load spike of 50 on the Apache scale backward 4 hours out of peak time, to 4am or thereabouts. But our coder's clock runs in the opposite direction being in Califlakia and he inadvertently brought them forward 4 hours - I think. You just can't get the staff these days. :D

Right now we're running round in circles adding a CMS, adding another server, running Nginx instead of Apache server, and upgrading to vBulletin 4.0, with the result that there are a few 'issues'. It'll be fixed soon. Please take this as an opportunity to watch some TV in the 5-minute breaks we are offering you in partnership with ABC TV Network Advertising Corp.
