Hey everyone - survey creator here!

thank you all for your input. It's massively helpful, really - I'm taking all suggestions on board - there's no such thing as bad criticism, so please keep piling it on.

We are all, obviously, slightly constrained by our own biases - I'm trying to get the balance right between a survey that captures most peoples' experience, and one that people actually complete, whilst also dealing with my own preconceived notions. Not an easy job!

Every comment is really appreciated....

That's kewl to know you created it. Was hoping some of the more constructive comments would get back to the person who created it. These surveys are sooooooo vital. But also do need to be as accurate as we can make em. Is this info that will eventually get passed on to CASAA or legislators, or is it for another purpose? Thanks so much for doing it!

SJ, regarding question #90 "If open systems were banned . . ."

The option that in reality would apply to me in that situation would be to continue using the rebuildable gear I have. With the prevalence of RBAs nowadays I think that would be a frequently picked answer since most of those devices can (in theory) last indefinitely and the wick/wire materials are easily sourced

just throwing in my :2c: so I don't feel I'm missing the party

I completed the survey anyway, but it was upsetting to be forced to use incorrect answers.

Fine, then don't respond.

Please try and actually read someone's full response if you are going to reply to it. It helps the whole community.

Thank you so much for listening to feedback and working hard to help the community. This data is really interesting and quite likely important to our advocacy. I hope you understand that I don't have any animosity toward the survey creator, you, and understand the difficulties in building such a survey. Great work!

Other item that I remembered being (slight) issue was regarding flavor choices. Was hard to select the one type of flavor category that I 'most vape' or however that was worded. Sitting by me right now, opened, I have many different categories of vapes and from what I recall the survey indicating, I would say there are at least 3 category types that I 'vape the most.' So, kinda feeling like the survey wasn't able to capture this. Would be better, IMO, if it were a 'check all that apply' type answer.

And flavors being the big political deal that they are, I think it would be helpful for any survey to make it as clear as possible that some vapers really do have a (significant) desire to explore and/or regularly purchase a wide array of flavor options, rather than staying loyal to only one category.

The survey is much more sophisticated this year than previously. Well done. By now, you are almost qualified to get a job in a market research firm. ;)

A couple of nits to pick.

Question 61 - My last device was purchased from a co-op. Because I know my co-op purchased from Heaven Gifts, I chose on-line store but had it been an unknown Alibaba vendor I would have been stumped. (Also at least 2 of the answers to this question had "an web." It should be "a web" or "an Internet" or "an on-line.")

Question 82 - I'm not really sure how to fix this but I was motivated to research e-cigarettes before I knew they were available in non-tobacco flavors but by the time I purchased I knew and have never purchased a tobacco flavor e-liquid. I don't know if I would have purchased, purchased as quickly as I did, or successfully made the transition to e-cigarettes had there been no food flavors.

Not really related, but… The non-smoking public has been trained to dislike the scent of tobacco. I vape non-tobacco flavors because I like the taste but I consider the fact that the smell of my vapor is less likely to be offensive to tobacco-haters as a bonus.

It's not going to work. It does not let me select "Other" and then add my own answer.

"This question requires an answer.
*
66. Are you loyal to one e-liquid brand, many brands, or do loyalties change frequently?
I'm loyal to one brand
I'm loyal to several brands
I frequently change vendors and try out new eliquid.
Other (please specify)"

There needs to be a bubble to select for "other".

Please fix this. It happened last year, too. I don't know how you can compile good stats from boxes without check-bubbles.

Yet another suggestion (for next year).

Do 2 surveys. One that is the full version (like this year's) and a second one that is 10 to 20 questions (the abbreviated version). People that want a shorter survey to complete will, and those of us who like taking surveys will do both. The shorter one can include only same questions as longer one (to make it easier on survey creator) or could be different set of questions.

I guess it's possible that someone could take longer one and not the shorter one.

I'd take 'em both.
