I definitely here ya. On top of that I'm no battery guru to begin with and I'm sure alot of others aren't either....it's really confusing at times and a high learning curve for sure....especially for someone like myself being relative new to vaping and entirely new to VV devices and the batteries they can and can't use.:)

I can go One Better.

If a Battery is Supposed to be 65mm Long, why are some Longer than Others?

And who was the Rookie Engineer who designed the LT so if there were different size 65mm Batteries, only Certain ones work?

But shouldn't a Protected Battery work also in a Lavatube?

I believe because the lavatube is protected that using a protected battery can cause issues. I was thinking about using a protected AW battery in my provari and asked provape is this would be a problem and this was their answer:

Most of these other batteries have a protection circuit that has a low
amperage cutoff. You can certainly try them, but if you try to pull too much
power from the battery with either low resistance attys or turning the power
up on the device, the battery may shutoff on you and trip the protection on
the cell.

cheers,

Had the tubes been cut just a tad bit longer they could obviously accommodate a few more mm sized battery and it seems with the amount of spring compression that could be doable.

I just don't know enough about a Lavatube to know what Would or Wouldn't work well in it.

But as for a Provari I can say that I used Both AW IMR 18490's and AW Protected 18500's for about 6 Months and have Not had any Problems with the Protected AW Batteries.

But.

I use 2.6~2.8ohm CE2's and seldom vape higher than 4.4 volts. So I can't say what would happen at Voltages say above 5 volts.

That's kinda what I was thinking and I'm Not a Rocket Scientist.

Especially with the amount of time the LT supposedly spent in beta testing!

All I know is that they have sure created a mess for people that want AW IMR's for other PV's.

Wonder what Dave is telling people that want to buy a new Precise, and he is out of batteries for it.

I got a lava tube a few days ago. It's pretty nice, but it keeps turning itself off, and wont turn back on unless I take the battery cap off and put it back on. I know they have a protection feature where they automatically step down the voltage if the carto resistance is too low, and am wondering if they changed it to just turn off. Anyone else experiencing this?

I had similar problems, but I tracked the source of the issue to my battery. Try sticking a small rare earth magnet onto the + end of the 18650 battery.

So let me go ahead and address why they didnt make the tube longer. Because its only meant to be used with IMR batteries. IMR batteries are the only batteries that should be used in a boost circuit mod. Thats why it was made to accommodate them, and not other batteries. The boost circuit would stress other batteries.

Simple enough once explained now why doesn't Volcano or the manufacturer just state that and save everyone the hassle...lol...I chuckle but am serious....you tossed yours in the trash yet??...I'm "picking" your brain...lol

AW does not produce a flat top IMR battery. That is the same bat that started this AW IMR fiasco.
Because of the attempt to pass them off as being AW cells, I'll take the "scam me once, damn you, scam me twice --------" approach to those bats regardles of who is selling them.
