Ok so i just finally decided to try recoiling and rewicking. I went and bought some hot wire for a foam cutter and it measures about 34g via resistance(no markings on package regarding guage) Earlier i tried to hook the nichrome to the no-res and had a helluva time trying to get them to stay together. I thought about soldering them but im not sure if i want to use my iron even with lead-free because of the old lead solder. Is there anyway to remove all the lead-solder from my iron or do i have to get a new tip to use with lead-free solder?

as dangerous as lead is, i wouldn't risk it when it isn't all that expensive to grab a new tip man.
