I have read so much about how the Triton tanks never leak. Well I have a leaker. I have gone through all of the checks. Head is tight. Silicone sleeve is down far enough. Haven't overfilled. Etc.... Still leaking even with a new head. It looks like it is actually leaking around where the tank meets the base. I mean this is a drip leak. I blow it out and set it down on a paper towel and there are drops within a few minutes. Also when I try the blow through to clear it out liquid is coming out of the air holes. Could it be the adhesive used to seal the tank to the base is breaking down??? I have only cleaned it once and it was with warm water.

Take the coil assembly out. Then fill the tank with water to a level just below the center tube. Still leak?
I'll guess you checked for some kind of little gasket or o-ring in the post under the coil unit.

Is the post straight and concentric? I had one that was off. With some needle nose and a good screwdriver in the bottom slot, i was able to twist and straighten it. 3 weeks later, still good. (I have 6 tanks and 3 minis, all good, save for when I don't get the wick condom on correctly)

There was another thread where lol you actually commented right before the OP posted pics. He got a new tank sent from Halo CS.

Halo is pretty good about defects. Contact them. There's a CS number on your invoice, or log into their website.

I don't think Halo tanks never leak. But from what I've seen, they have much fewer problems than most other tanks.

Where is this o-ring that is supposed to be under the coil unit???

I still have a gut feeling that it is leaking around the tank and the base though.

It's prob a leak around the exterior of the tank, not in it.

The other o-ring is under the tank, but even if it's broken, it shouldn't leak. The only other o-rings are: 1) in the coil 2) around the tip.

The only fix is to reseal it (if Halo CS won't replace it). Re-seal from the inside is going to be hard; much easier from the outside (tape?). Ideally, you'd use a food grade sealant.

Personally, I'd get rid of the plastic cylinder, and swap it out for a glass tube. ;)

My mistake. Got home, took my loupe and looked. I don't see any o ring, so never mind that.

I agree with your original thought; that the seal between the plastic and the base is defective.

So without the wicks, take the tank and fill it carefully with water no higher than the 1.5ml mark. Set it on paper towel, and enjoy a vape with a good tank!!!

And let's see where it leaks.

If you need Halo CS, they post a number on the packing list, or the confirm email from your order. If you can't find it, PM me.

Ok filled it with water without the head just below the tube. been sitting on a paper towel for about two hours. Not one drop.

Next course of action????

Then logic dictates that the leak is from a point above. It's either the joint or the wicks. The other two seals are between the tip and the tank, and the tip and the center post.

I would take a head with the wicks facing upwards, screw it into the center post, then fill with water above the joint, but below the wicks. See if that leaks. If so, and you say you had different heads on this tank, then the top of the tank center tube joint is no good.

Of course, you have carefully compared the leaky tank with the good tank. Does the head screw in the same, to the same depth? The 2 tank center posts look identical? With no foreign matter, dings or anything?

You said in the original post that "I mean this is a drip leak. I blow it out and set it down on a paper towel and there are drops within a few minutes." If the wick up test didn't leak, then dry it all out, assemble it normally, carefully fill the tank with water to the 2.4 line. And look for where the drips are coming from.

Did you call Halo? That should be your next course of action.

is the silicone condom pushed all the way down?
liquid is meant to enter the head through the wicks to reach the coil, but it sounds like yours is allowing too much liquid in.
I guess the heads are hand assembled, and they don't look to be tested with liquid, so variations of liquid flow would be normal.
it could be the wicks are too skinny or the condom is too short, or whatever, I'm just making this stuff up.
open a ticket with halo and ask for suggestions to control the leak.

For now I am going to chalk this up to a bad head. Just put the head on another tank and it leaks. Guess I got two bad ones in a row.

This is not exactly on point 'cause my mini tanks for my G6 aren't leaking but I do see liquid between the plastic and the base BELOW the bottom of the tank.

So I have a theory based on science... anytime two (2) materials that are connected change temperature, they expand differently AND MORE IMPORTANTLY when they cool off they contract differently.

So once the plastic and the metal warm up, the metal expansion MAY expand the plastic MORE than the plastic would by itself.
If the plastic is expanded more than it would by itself then it is STRETCHED and will never re-form the original seal it had when new. If there is a 'glue' present then the bond may be broken.

Bottom line for me, as long as the tank is plastic it will not be cleaned using hot water but with PURE GRAIN ALCHOL (PGA), rinse and repeat. Very warm or Hot water rinses may be their nemesis.

Why is that? because it's thinner, ie, less dense? Or cause water has a high surface tension?
...
Both. ;)

Add a little food coloring, and it's even easier.

Someone I know "printed" a shotglass (3D printer) and water alone didn't reveal any leaks, but with a real drink, it leaked everywhere.
