Leaky 801 Atomizer

So i have just started using the 801, and so far am really enjoying the hit it produces. I find the draw nice and easy. The only complaint i have is the atomizer leaks quite a bit.

It leaks right under where the battery screws in. The seam thats about a 1/4 inch from the battery. Is this normal. That piece moves when i screw in the battery. Is mine just loose or are all the atomizers like this for the 801?

Some models leak more than others. Some of the airflow into the atomizer tube comes through holes around or through the atomizer threads. If you drip or overload your carts, liquid can seep out through the threads. Also, vapor that cools in the atomizer becomes condensate. That, too, can works its way down and out. If the device works well for you, carry around a few tissues to wipe it off. I prefer licking it off, but that is dis-taste-ful to some. A preventative measure is to blow out the atomizer each evening and leave it inverted overnight to drain.

i like to drip 2 drops on my attys when i top off my cart. Are you saying i cant avoid the leaking if i do this?

Plus the cart empties just as fast as my 901. This is hard to understand since the 801 is 3 times as big. I expected longer cart life with the 801, but i guess it doesnt last long since half the juice leaks out.

in my experience it seems that some 801 carts are not packed all that well with the stuffing. The only time my 801 leaks is when i get one of these carts with the loose stuffing , the juice has nothing to absorb into so it simply runs out the bottom of the atomizer and onto the battery

I've never seen any of my vaporizers for the 801 leak fluid at the joint, but they all leak a little vapor there. I've gotten in the habit of doing a "primer puff," mostly just into my mouth, and released before doing the real puff. During the release and before the puff is when I see the vapor coming out of the joint. This seems pretty normal to me.

I'm tryin' to love my 801 (I have a 901 & 510 also) but really don't like the rubber tip on the carts.

If I get refillable carts for a penstyle that have the plastic mouthpiece, are there certain ones that fit? I got my DSE801 from My Vapor Store.

I drip two or three drops down the side of the barrel if I haven't used the atomizer recently. I don't drip for vaping, though. I refill the cartridges.

Well after doing some further testing i have found that the white ones that came with my kit doesnt leak. I was first using the black ones i got extra, and they all leaked. Now after trying 2 white ones which neither leaked i have to think that the black ones are faulty

I recall reading recently on the forum that penstyle cartridges are not all the same. There are some small differences cart length, mouthpiece diameter, etc. My Kissbox carts don't fit some of my other panstyle atomizers as the mouthpiece is a little wider. You may have solved your problem. Good news!

The 801 atty will leak is you overfill the cart, and I only drip on a new one. After that there's no reason to drip it, they should be giving off great amount of vapor. Take it off and blow it out hard, a few times, gently tap out what you can on a cushioned surface (not too hard. the burner can get dislodged!). Sometimes you'll get out a lot of darkened juice. Always works for me. DON'T let it keep leaking, will get into your battery and ruin it. They don't recommend dripping these. Batteries are crap so don't like taking any chances.

i believe the OP is talking about the actual juice leaking down through the atomizer and not the vapor

GrimmGreen, I think you're right. I killed a battery yesterday, took it apart, and found the plastic switch mechanism wet with cherry fluid. Although I haven't seen liquid leaking at the joint, it was getting into the battery.

These were all atomizers and batteries from the same source, but from reading on this forum, I've found that all 801s are apparently not created equally or necessarily cross-compatible.

I think our OP has found his problem. What's great about this forum is that it's there for the next guy to discover.

well i think i know how this happened to me. I got in the habit of over tightening the batt in the atty with my 901, so i did the same to my 801, and it made the part a 1/4" below the batt on the atty come loose. So my batt can keep spinning.

So for all the 801 noobs out there, don't over tighten the battery into the atomizer. To be safe hold that little piece below where you screw in the battery when you are putting the 2 pieces together
