Lemo Builds

I'm trying to post on a different thread, but it won't let me since I'm new here, anyway... I'm looking for some good Lemo builds. I saw someone with a vertical single strand 26g zipper wire build. I rock a dual 28g zipper coil setup at 0.12 ohms all day in my Mutation Xv2 and am really curious how well the single strand of wire does without it's reversed twisted counterpart. I just put too much time into the wire to want to waste it. BTW, how many posts do I need here before I can post in the forum I'm trying to get to and when can I post pics?

You need 5 posts and then to wait until the server updates (it does it every hour, but I don't remember the exact time... I'm sure someone will be along shortly who does).

On the Lemo, what are you running it on? Knowing the wattage you have available will help with coil recommendations. I've tried dual coils, twisted wire, and various spaced coils on mine, but I keep coming back to the same basic compressed single, which seems to give me better flavor than anything else I've tried with it. It's 26g kanthal on a 1/8" bit, 9/8 wraps, and reads out around 1.25-1.3 ohms. I run it at 25 watts, and it's flavor country. In my experience, the Lemo likes a larger diameter coil and more wick than most tanks.

That's a great start. I have also been hearing Lemo likes the larger diameter. I'm usually 2.4mm with the Zipper, but I'm thinking a 3mm vertical over the air hole would be nice. My big curiosity was the single strand of zipper wire because with my understanding of hydrodynamics, it's the V-shaped channels of the two strands of oppositely twisted 3 strands that channel and hold the juice to create the crazy flavor. I definitely taste the difference between flattening and not flattening the twisted strands, it seems that not creating the V-channel would also diminish flavor and be a waste of the wire. I think I'll stick with the simple builds like what you mentioned above for the Lemo and keep the prettier, more time consuming ones for dripping. I have the 165 Watt upgraded IPV3, so I have plenty of power for whatever I build. So far I haven't found a reason to be over 120 watts. About 25 watts on my Lemo builds, 50-60 on a single zipper and 100-120 on a dual zipper. I used to chase clouds, but now I'm all about the flavor. But even a single zipper chucks HUGE clouds as an added bonus. I haven't found a better flavor coil yet.

The wire that comes with the Lemo looks to be 26g if I'm not mistaken, right? What do you use for wicking? I prefer the Japanese organic cotton sheets. I haven't used a ball in quite a while and noticed the difference immediately. I had to drain the whole tank to change the cotton, but that little stock coil put out some great flavor. I'll try a coil similar to what you mentioned, but somewhere around 0.8 to 1.0 ohm with the wire that came with it. Maybe 8/7 on a 3mm.

Pretty sure it's 26g NiChrome, which has slightly different resistance per foot than Kanthal. I'm using sterile cotton, but picking up some japanese today to try, since I'm running low and hear such great things about it.

I definitely didn't like the results when I tried rayon in the Lemo - that pretty much stays in my drippers.

I got to try someone's lemo, and I put a simple 24ga Kanthal, 2mm ID spaced 5-7 wrap coil (I forget exactly, probably 6 wraps) wicked with rayon and it did fine on a mech. Came out around 0.5 ohms, but I can't remember enough to be more specific.

I'm not a big fan of tanks, so I haven't used it much, but it was a perfectly good, simple coil.

Welcome to ECF, you got the 5 posts out of the way - rejoice!

I'm also not a huge fan of tanks, that's why it took me so long to get one. I've heard enough good things about this and the bad things were just inconveniences, i.e. airflow adjustment location. I keep mine wide open anyway, so no inconvenience. I ride a bus though so my device spends a lot time in my coat pocket and if I don't empty it, I get juice pocket, hence, the purchase of a Lemo. I don't mind getting crazy with builds, but it has to function well. It seems simple is the way to go here. I haven't tried NiChrome yet... I'll ohm it out before I try it so I know for sure what it is, but that'll be interesting to see how it acts if is.

I haven't tried Rayon yet, but I love the Japanese cotton. It has no taste (you'll notice the taste of regular organic cotton if you ever switch back from Japanese) and a dry hit doesn't make you choke. How does Rayon react to the dry hit?

Rayon reacts very well, in my experience. It wicks to the last drop, so I will occasionally get a dry hit, simply because it was working perfectly a second ago. After juicing it up again, the taste is completely gone. I've never had a dry hit force me to rewick.
