Thanks for the replies. Sounds like that should be the way to go. I was so looking forward to not carrying around a small Phillips all day every day but oh well. I'll quit whining and just use it the way it was intended. I was convinced I broke the dam somehow but after hearing this I realized there are really only 2 places it could be leaking from. The O-ring and the fill hole. No way it's coming down through the air hole. Not when I only filled it up a little bit.

Happy Holidays all. Thanks again. Sometimes it just takes hearing it from someone else to make your mind up.

Fill it from the top!

No need to carry a screwdriver.

So just unscrew the top cap and fill? Would this work on a kayfun too? Why do they have the bottom fill holes? I assumed it had to do with some small pressure difference.

Hold the Glass tank/shell downward to keep the seal on the bottom, unscrew the top, fill the tank while holding the glass downwards, then screw the top back on.

I filled the tank this way 6 times tonight.

Words of wisdom - Fill from the top

Sure you can many of us have done it and some still do. I even do, when in a hurry and not worried about making a little mess.
ALL Tanks based off the Kayfun(KF, Russian, Orchid, Lemo, etc.) have low sitting channels.
As you BOTTOM FILL the trapped air is expelled through those channels as liquid rises toward the base.

When Top filling most, people say place fingers over the air hole(s) while filling to prevent leaking. Lemo has 4 openings.
This is also a myth and though some will argue, the fact is you cannot stop anything by covering the air channel openings. The CHIMNEY is wide open and can allow liquid to enter and rise. eventually this will settle downward and may enter the air passages.

Lemo adds one more snag - the actual air opening is exposed internally in the Base - cannot be blocked.
No problem the small loss will just pool in the base until next cleaning.

I don't want to make my own coils. Can someone recommend me what pre coiled wires from Fasttech is best to buy to pair it with Japanese Cotton (I will buy). Link below.

A 1.1ohm pre coiled wires and 1.5 oh pre coiled wires. Also what would be max wattage (without the vapor getting too warm) I can go up to with a 1.1 ohm and 1.5 ohm coil

https://www.fasttech.com/search?pre-coiled wire

Thanks

I'm sorry that I didn't look through all the pre-coiled wires, but I will say that I have had the best performance in my Lemo and Lemo Drop with inside diameters between 2 and 2.6mm. To me, at least, it has seemed that with smaller diameter wires, you can't stuff enough cotton to completely stop leakage.

My favorite, so far, is a 2.64 mm ID setup. I haven't gone larger than that, yet, but I think it would work fine with a 3 mm ID.

As to power, I'm pretty happy around 15 watts +/- a few depending on my mood, but generally at least 12 watts, and seldom over 18. It's a nice, comfortably warm vape, and that's how I like it.

Had my Lemo Drop and Istick for about 3 days now. SO far love it... I like the vape, the taste is top shelf, and the build quality for the price is quite good. The only problems I have found so far is the fact the wicking can be quite finicky at times. Too much wicking material, or too little and it can leak. Also the fill method, and the airflow adjustment is a bit of a pain. Despite those two relatively minor caveats, the tank is an amazing bit of engineering. The istick is fantastic. holds a good charge for a long time, and no issues to speak of at this time.

I saw the Rip Trippers review and the P. Busardo review. I am now SERIOUSLY considering it (I've never built a col in my life ). I think I heard one of them say that they have not disclosed what type(s) of metal is used in the construction? I've never seen one up close....any guesses as to what type of metal it is constructed of?

The Eleaf website only calls it "steel". I am sure the base, body, and chimney are some sort of stainless steel, but I don't know what grade. The fill screw and coil mounting screws are not, they are some sort of ferrous metal (based on their reaction to my magnetic screwdriver).

Thanks KTech. The reason I ask is because I was thumbing through some youtube videos and they Lemo's) look amazing. Then I got to this one video....about 25 seconds long. The guy was saying that he was finding small particals (metal shavings) floating around in his clear ejuice within his Lemo...He ran it through the cleaning process refilled it and saw the same thing....everybody else says it may be the best tank they've got. I don"t think the youtube guy mentioned what type of wire he was using....I just wonder why they wouldn't use stainless?

I have a Lemo drop and it's great. I got a 1.7 ohm coil 2.4mm 28g kanthal 5050 ejuice and it vapes much better than my evod and protank. The flavor is better but not tons better. The vapor is definitely better. It feels solid and I've had no issues at all with leaking or gurgling.

Took a few tries to get the wicking right. I was getting some dry hits but after I got the wicking down I can chain vape it if I want to and I won't get a dry hit. The only thing I'd like to get is a stainless steel tube with maybe a small glass window so I know when it's out of juice.

I love it.

That's odd. Honestly, both of mine (Lemo and Drop) came quite clean from the factory, but I did give them a bath before building them.

And I have had at least one of them in rotation since I received them around the first week of December, and I haven't gotten any "floaties" in my e-liquid.

Yea-I wonder about some of this Youtube stuff sometimes. Who knows he could have gotten a bad one...Also, it was a very brief clip so who knows. I can tell you this, it was the only negative that i could find on this tank. As a beginner, to rebuilding I can tell you that my head is swimming. I haven't even looked at the Kayfun v4. I've heard the build quality on those is second to none but that Kayfuns are not the least bit forgiving....so i have no idea what i'm going to get.....BTW how are mouth to lung hits with the Lemo?

It's hard to say. I am wondering if the particles he's seeing are just the carbonized remnants of the e-liquid he was using.

I wouldn't say the Kayfuns aren't forgiving. Once you get coiling and wicking down, they're actually kind of easy.

As to mouth-to-lung hits, it depends.

You can adjust the air flow down to a pretty tight draw, but the way I set mine up, TOO tight of a draw leads to too much e-liquid being pulled into the wick. I like my draws on the somewhat airy side.
